๐๐ผ Join us to celebrate Irish Sign Language Awareness Week! Throughout 2023 and 2024 weโve been working closely with the Deaf community, and with the support of the Irish Human Rights & Equality Commission grant we were able to establish a number of programmes and initiatives to support the Deaf community, highlight some of the barriers experienced and create more opportunities for Deaf artists. Every day this week we will be sharing the voices of the artists involved, as well as sharing some tips weโve picked up along the way. Stay tuned over the next few days for information on working with Deaf artists, coordinating accessible performances, digital access and participation! #IWDP24 #ISLAwarenessWeek #IWDP ๐
โThereโs queers in every county, homosexuals in the every hamlet, gays in every gable. And tonight youโll be talking to some of them.โ Kabosh Theatre Company presents CALLINGS 6 - 9 November ๐๏ธ EARLYBIRD OFFER: โฌ18/16 until Friday 27th Sept, when theyโre gone theyโre gone! On sale now: https://tinyurl.com/3rrnc6fj As the 70โs rage on, the telephone ringsโฆ.Callings follows five queer people who found sanctuary and community on the other end of the phone by seeking solace in Cara-Friend - a befriending service set up in the 1970โs to support the many hidden LGBTQ+ individuals across the north of Ireland. Charged with the music of the day, and set amidst a storm of anti-gay headlines, Callings delves deep into the struggle for survival our queer communities faced on a daily basis. In an era when the government attempted to quash their right to exist, these moments of connection were an act of resistance and rebellion.
