Dungarvan Co.Waterford sees work begin this week on a purpose built concrete skatepark. With a population of approximately 10,000,(quite small in comparison to Dundalk). This small popular tourist orientated town realises having a skatepark will attract more visitors into the region.
Dungarvan is among the many towns throughout Ireland prioritising building skate facilities to enhance sporting amenities for their residents and visitors alike. Dungarvan which is already well known for their golf courses along the gold coast, will also within a month be known to have a skate park which will accommodate skateboarders and bmx riders wishing to use the park .
Well done to everyone involved in making this happen. 👏

Hey, hope everyone's keeping well! We put together a newsletter for anyone interested in the campaign to stay informed on where we stand at the moment. We're hoping to make it a quarterly (every 4 months) post.

Since starting the campaign last year with a successful online
petition, we've gained quite a few partners and formed a working group to get the park built. Our partners consist of local Councilors,
skaters and BMX riders, youth groups and experienced non-profit
skatepark developers.
We're in the process of engaging town officials such as engineering and corporate management as well.

Our social media reach continues to expand, and we continue to receive solid support from local media who have featured our campaign in their publications regularly.
Demand for a park continues to grow and it seems every second child has a skate board but nowhere to go other than the Town Square.

Currently, we await confirmation of our application as a Company
Limited by Guarantee, and we are in the process of engaging the local authorities in Louth County Council to work together to identify a site for the park.
Progress on this stage is proving slow with limited response and engagement - We know that COVID-19 and the time of year may be contributing to the limited pace of this stage, but we hope this will improve soon.
Positive engagement from town planners is essential for us, especially when it comes to funding applications.

We're looking forward to working with the council to identify sites
and then making a start on preparing our funding applications -
further down the line the tangible work begins with park specification and tendering design and construction. We expect our next update will have exciting news on our progress!

If you would like to become
involved in the campaign, you can contact us by email at

Positive news for 'Bray Skateboard Association' as they move forward with their campaign to secure a purpose built urban skatepark.

Some interesting developments in relation to a park outlined in the recent Wicklow Times! Cllr Aoife Flynn kennedy’s motion passed and a working group will now be established, including members of the BSA team. We welcome this development and the positive statements which accompanied it.

Outdoor sporting activities like skating play in important part in improving physical and mental health. Our community, which is open to all, continues to grow as people of all ages and abilities pick up a skateboard (or roller skates) and head out for some fun.

We look forward to discussing and engaging with the wider community as part of this process.

Latest Update : We can't wait to start working with the Louth County Council to make our dream of a Urban Concrete Skatepark happen. We have met the Councillors twice and have their support. We are now waiting for a reply from Council offices to our email. To say we are excited is an understatement. Wish us luck and fingers crossed

Killarney Skatepark- Project Update.

Some positive news for the campaign to have a purpose built urban concrete skate park in Killarney town. A massive well done to everyone involved.

This too will be our town hopefully very soon. We are in the process of registering as an organization that will build a purpose built urban concrete skatepark here in Dundalk.

We have had tremendous support from the general public thus far and are very aware of the demand for such an amenity in our town.

Last week we received very positive feedback in regards to our eligibility for funding from not one but several sources.

We're in the process of a site identification which is the next step before we can officially apply for the funding needed to complete this project.

We now await an update from another request to join talks with a representative of the local town council in regards to securing an appropriate location.

Our skatepark committee and working group will continue to work diligently and keep you all informed on the progress of this project.

Once again.. Well done Killarney. We look forward to seeing the results.

Killarney Skatepark - Project Update.

In April 2020 land was granted by Kerry County Council for a skatepark to be built, at a site located beside the Killarney Sports & Leisure Centre. The project has now entered the planning permission stage, and although progress has been slowed due to the current pandemic, the Killarney Skatepark Committee are very grateful of the work that has been done to date, and we would like to thank those who have been involved.

The KSC has been set up by a group of local skateboarders and interested stakeholders to push the project forward with dedication and passion. 💪

Through this page, we want to involve and inform the local community. We will need everyone's help and support to deliver a skatepark for the community, a facility which we believe can enhance what Killarney has to offer local people and the many tourists who visit our town.

Please Like & Share this page to show your support. 🙏

Feel free to contact the KSC via email or through any of our social media pages 📩
