Our first port of call when visiting Sligo Farmers Market each Saturday morning is the cheese stall from Leitrim Hill Creamery. We love their fresh goats cheese and it brings back memories of our time being cheesemakers. Meeting Lisa Gifford first in 2016, while working at The Organic Centre, we could sense a certain energy and determination and so the emergence of Leitrim Hill Creamery in 2021 comes to no surprise to us. Lisa, her daughter Gypsy and wife Richelle are producing wonderful, award winning artisan cheeses in the hills of Leitrim and to uncover them is long overdue.

The fig tree in our Polytunnel is super productive this year. Remember figs have to be eaten ideally at 22C so pick and enjoy!
Baked cheesecake with real quark!
Horseradish quark is one of those foods that is not only very healthy its flavour is simply divine.
Made with fresh raw milk from Kerry cows and grated horseradish from the garden and seasoned with sea salt, paprika and pepper.

Our Story
Hans and Gaby Wieland launched Sligo Food Tours in April 2019 and added a new Sligo Vegan Tour in September 2019. With a lifetime dedicated to real food, the husband and wife duo have set up their new tour business to showcase the burgeoning food scene in Sligo, visiting the most inventive and innovative restaurants and cafes.
Having moved to Sligo from Germany in 1985, Hans and Gaby have been at the cutting edge of Sligo’s food revolution first as producers of farmhouse cheeses, sourdough breads and organic vegetables, later as lecturers and mentors. They see themselves as ambassadors, interpreters and promoters of Sligo culinary scene.
Sligo Food Tours is their latest venture showcasing their favourite food hot spots in Sligo. They only work with independent small family businesses and select them for the quality of their food and drinks.
