I called into the Letterkenny Real Food & Farmers Market on Saturday!! Some fabulous products available and they taste devine 😍Some people are not aware but Ballyholey Farm Shop have our milk with them so you are able to get your weekly refills at Letterkenny Farmers Market every Saturday from 9am-1pm 🥛🤍

🔔🌟Farm Safety Week 🌟🔔 IFA hosted a farm safety event at our farm yesterday evening. We had a great turn out. We had many guest speaker attend from all over Ireland. Gary Fisher was interviewing me about my Dads accident and how it affected us a Family. Eight years ago, Tuesday past my Dad had a severe farm accident. It is a miracle that he is here today. Dad struggles every day ! He constantly in pain but he struggles on. As family we had to carry on day to day farming while Dad was bed bound for about 7 months. As a family we can’t thank our family and friends and our local community coming together to help us out. There was a never day went by that Dad didn’t have a visit which helped him mentally. One piece advise I gave last night. Was please slow down and take your time. If it takes you that 5 minutes longer to do a job, it is still better than losing your life !!

Traffic Problems !!
I’m not sure what traffic jam is worse at moment ?🙃 Letterkenny town or at The Milk Bar when the cows are crossing the road 🚦🐄🚗 I apologise for any of my customers who have had to wait till the cows have crossed 🙈

This weekend my brothers have headed down to Co.Cavan for the Virgina Emerald Dairy Expo 🐄 The ladies got their wash and blow dry and looking smashing today 🤩 I wish Luke Porter all the best today 💪🏻

Cows out to Grass 💚
The beautiful Spring weather allows to the cows to head out to fresh green grass 🐄🌞 They were very happy ladies this morning skipping and jumping ❤️

Foot Trimming 💅🏻🐄
Here at Foyleview Farm our cows get regular manicure’s 💅🏻 Foot trimming is highly important for the animals welfare ! A typical cow is around 600kg so it is a significant amount of weight on their feet ⚖️. The cows hoofs (nails) grow at a rate of 5mm per month meaning it’s obligatory that they get a regular manicure to prevent over grown claws. This is usually done once a year when the cows are dried off when they are on their holidays 🏖 During the calving period of the cow it is very important to try to prevent lameness. A hormone is released during this period causing a significant risk to lameness. So extra management is important during this period ! Highly recommend Eko Hoofcare for a great manicure 😉💅🏻
