In January, Informed will have an online closing conference on January 11. But not alone! 🤯 The final conference will take place together with the Erasmus+ project . This project to support adult educators, VET providers, teachers and other professionals from the social and educational sectors to incorporate online tools to improve teaching and learning and show them how they can use technologies to deliver training in a hybrid environment and how they can apply the best pedagogical approaches that will prepare them to effectively deliver tailored training programs to their target groups.

In the last post we told you that we are finalising the modules for our workshops. In the same time, we are translating these modules into German and Greek and creating a content & didactic-methodical principles for each module. With the help of this plan, trainers in particular should then understand the behind the modules and how these methods could be incorporated into their own courses. This document is the last task for work package 2, after which the implementation will start and the will be fully tested and evaluated. We are really excited! 😁

Based on the results and interests of our target group identified in the Gap-Analysis, we have developed three modules for individualised, playful and research-oriented training of competences 🤓:

1. Data security - developed by our Irish partner Future in Perspective Ltd
2. Graphic design - developed by our German partner iserundschmidt GmbH
3. Research - developed by our Greek partner Connectus M.IKE

The modules were prepared in the form of three PowerPoint presentations each that learners can work on independently and flexibly online at their individual learning pace. Each module consists of three units. These are structured in such a way that immediately after a short theoretical input, which is illustrated by examples, practical tasks follow in which the target group applies their newly acquired 💡

The didactic-methodological principle of task orientation is in the foreground, so that the tasks are not reproduction tasks, but authentic, complex, action-oriented tasks. Instead, the focus is on the learners' individual and varied ways of solving problems. Each module ends with a quiz so that our target group can actively track their learning progress ✅

In the last months we conducted a gap analysis to indicate the needs of adult students to increase their soft and competences. A total of 46 people from Germany, Ireland and Greece responded to our survey 😊 With the help of this responses, we discovered that participants prefer a non-intensive approach to training, dedicating a few hours per month to learning while favouring online workshop modules or manuals that offer flexibility in managing their own time. Individualised, playful, and research-oriented learning methods are preferred, allowing participants to apply the acquired knowledge on their personal devices simultaneously. Overall, the of digital skills training is to contribute to the personal development of the target group, enhance job prospects, and increase overall productivity. Self-development and self-realisation are the key priorities in this context 🤝

European Year of Skills 2023 The European Year of Skills 2023 will help companies, in particular small and medium enterprises, to address skills shortages in the EU.

Did you know that, according to Eurostat, in 2021, 54% of people in the aged 16 to 74 had at least basic overall ?

This number varied widely – from 79% in the Netherlands and Finland to 28% in Romania. Moreover, this share falls to 26% when looking at people with more advanced digital skills.

Europe lagging behind on digital skills development, says EU official Barriers to lifelong learning and limited investment in training are slowing down the European Union’s efforts to fill the digital skills gap by 2030, according to EU representatives and experts, who pointed to the need for increased upskilling and reskilling support.

Who are the partners of Informed 🤔

Our coordinator, iserundschmidt GmbH, is a company in Germany specialising in science and knowledge communication research. The company is highly experienced in public participation in scientific processes with a focus on civic engagement and more generally in the fields of education, youth and senior projects, IT services, online and digital media.

Connectus M.IKE aims to develop tailor-made support mechanisms to actors in Greece that support the skills of the local population and the current challenges and needs regarding to digital transition. The team has extensive experience in the creation of training materials for adults, trainers and students, as well as implementation and exploitation of web-applications and platforms for EU projects.

Our third partner, Future in Perspective Ltd, is a private company active in vocational training, business development and coaching, work-based learning, e-learning and digital media production. The company specialises in the development of innovative educational materials and courses specifically aimed at non-mainstream education providers.

In the last posts we explained to you what Informed is and what our goals are. Today we explain our current status. Our end goal is to offer workshops in order to create an e-book with all the learning materials that were created and presented during the workshops. This will be followed by two online handbooks that will serve as companions to better understand and learn from the learning materials and an e-guide that will serve as a checklist for adults who want to improve both their social and digital skills 📓

Now we are preparing a gap analysis. We are surveying participants from Ireland, Greece and Germany about their digital skills and how they would like to improve them in the future. With the help of the gap analysis, we will then create the workshop content until the end of July, which we will then conduct in all three partner countries.

We are already looking forward to this exciting work ahead of us! 😚

What are the goals of Informed 🤔

As you already know, our Erasmus+ project aims to improve both the social and competences of adult students, adult educators and trainers.

Because of this, we want to develop needs-based learning materials to create high-quality and flexible learning opportunities for our target group. Our participants should learn how digital media works today in order to be able to expose the problems of fake news and disinformation and to reduce misinformation. Nevertheless, they should also be able to recognise the advantages of digital media for their students and use them purposefully.

Furthermore, the cooperation of adult students and adult educators should be strengthened in order to raise awareness, proactively tackle disinformation and reach as many key stakeholders as possible and the general public across through the publication of an e-guide.
