Join us for more Sheaf Throwing in Knock Village at Dancing at the Crossroads - Knock, Roscrea on August 25th.
The committee are delighted this year to hold their inaugural Sheaf Throwing competition in memory of John Russell, champion sheaf thrower. This competition will be open to Senior Men, Women and Junior men. Registration will take place in Knock Village on the day with competition starting at 5pm. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in all categories with the overall winner in the Senior men's competition taking home the John Russell Perpetual Trophy.

What a fantastic day we had at the Clonmany Agricultural Show yesterday! A huge thank you to the show and all the competitors who traveled from near and far to showcase their skills in the Irish sheaf throwing competition. We were thrilled to see participants from all over Ireland truly a gathering of talent from all corners of Ireland.

It was wonderful to witness both male and female competitors, ranging from 16 to 75 years old, coming together to celebrate this traditional sport. Your strength, dedication, and sportsmanship made the event truly special.

Yesterday at Tinahely Agricultural Show Society Ltd. we witnessed a fantastic display of skill and sportsmanship at our annual Sheaf Throwing competition. Despite the weather throwing us a few showers, the enthusiasm and energy from our competitors lit up the event, making it a memorable day for all.

We are incredibly grateful to the Tinahely Agricultural Show for their steadfast support in hosting this traditional competition each year, providing a platform for showcasing such talents. Special thanks to Paddy Healy, the show's vice president, for presenting the well-deserved prizes to our winners.

The competition was fierce across various categories, including a novice men's competition, a seniors' competition, and a ladies' competition.

In the senior competition, the winners were:
1st Place: Daniel Breen from Tralee, County Kerry
2nd Place: Sean Casey from Cork
3rd Place: Diarmuid Casey (Sean's father)

Rebecca Casey earned the title of the best under 18 thrower, showcasing exceptional talent and promising potential for the future!

We want to extend a big thank you to all those who participated and attended the event. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year for another round of Sheaf Throwing at Tinahely Agricultural Show.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear friend, Rory O'Dwyer. Rory was a big part of our Irish sheaf throwing community and will be dearly missed. We would like to extend our deepest condolence, prayers and thoughts to, Rory, family and dear friends at this very difficult time.
