The following was by writer Billy O'Hanluain back in 2021 and I wish every Leaving Cert student read this β€οΈ
"Today, I am thinking about all the students who'll get their leaving cert results on Friday; not the ones who'll be feted on the covers of newspapers with their freakish bouquets of seven A1s".
"No, this morning, I salute the dreamers, the ones who ploughed through their own furrow against the grain, the dancers and chancers, the schemers, the unsung heroes of the magical space between the classes, the bike shed kissers and smokers, the ones whose crooked branches could never be bent straight.
"The raconteurs of the school bus stop, the shy ones who'll be beautiful late bloomers, the bullied ones, the ones who thought their leaking buckets were deficient but it is only along a well-watered path that the most beautiful flowers grow.
"The boys and girls who held tight to their own songs, whistling their own melodies against the wind that blew hard for the last six years. The oddballs who rolled collecting only the moss they wanted.
"The gay boys who've waited for years to walk out of those school gates for the last time and walk tall. The ones who were taunted and not taught, the ones whose songs were frozen and stultified by facts; there is no failure today."
"The thaw begins today. This is your Spring, your release, your recovery, your time. Take flight. Learn to forget and dazzle yourself by being who you truly are. Let nobody measure or assess you. Look up into the cosmos of your beautiful self and follow that star that winks at you showing you the way towards the place that school never revealed

I've started making these cute little Christmas stockings that can be used (and reused every year) as a Christmas decoration, a Christmas gift bag and/or for Santa to fill.
I'll have them in various Christmas patterns at the Plaza Christmas Market later this month.
A huge thank you to everyone who has made this Market so amazing - Greystones tidy towns gang, SΓobhan and Brendan, all the vendors, customers and browsers.

Pop down and enjoy the atmosphere π
Barrington Stokes books were a godsend for my dyslexic child who went from reading being too hard work to loving being able to read by herself.
Trish from Halfway up the Stairs can recommend which of the stories might grab your child's attention.
My sister loves anything nautical so when she asked me to make a water bottle holder for her birthday it had to be this fabric.
I knew I also wanted to give her gifts that would be a surprise so in the same fabric she got a lip balm holder (with milk chocolate flavour lip balm!), a mini coin purse and a travel makeup and jewellery pouch (forgot to take photo of that before I gave it to her π€¦ββοΈ)
I'll be at the wonderful Plaza Market two dates in July - this Sunday 2nd and then Sunday 9th.
I already know that I'll be treating myself to a cinnamon roll from .kitchen , greeting cards from , checking out the lovely jewellery from for potential gift ideas, admiring all the artwork and much much more.
Finishing off a few more bandanas.
Is there any cuter way of your dog saying "I'm a proud Irish lgbtqia+ supporter" than these?
More designs next week
My Story
About 8 years ago my parents bought me a sewing machine for Christmas as my Mum thought I'd enjoy sewing, the sewing machine was put away after Christmas to gather dust .
I created a bucket list for 2019 and one of the items was to dig out the sewing machine and learn to use it. I happened to mention this to a friend and her amazing 11 year old daughter Ella who very kindly offered to teach me to use my sewing machine over February half term. So on 19th February (my Dad's 80th birthday) I arrived at their house to be greeted with a "Welcome to sewing school Shenda" sign on the door , spent the day with Ella patiently teaching me and so began my love affair with sewing!
