The Irish Kennel Club presented the Irish President with a beautifully adorned certificate ‘in recognition and sincere appreciation of a lifetime of extraordinary service to the President and the people of Ireland’. Bród (Pride as Gaeilge) sadly passed away in April 2023 after 11 years and 2 months living in the Áras, having come as an 8-month-old puppy.
President Michael D. Higgins has accepted an honorary Golden Paw Hero Dog Award on behalf of his former pet Bernese Mountain Dog, Bród, at Áras an Uachtaráin last afternoon.

The Golden Paw Hero Dog Awards 2023, sponsored by Agria Petinsure and GAIN Pet Nutrition, aim to find, recognise and reward Ireland’s most courageous, brave and life changing canines in order to honour the love, companionship and service they give us on a day-to-day basis.
