Sincere Condolences to all the Moran family and friends on the passing of a local legend, John Moran. May he rest in peace.
JOHN MORAN RIP
We at St. Michaels GFC are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our club President John Moran to his eternal reward this morning ( Friday Jan. 7th 2022 ).
John was first and foremost, a true gentleman, an outstanding club man and was absolutely loved by everyone in our club.
He worked hard as our club treasurer for many years in times when laptops, PC's and spreadsheets were unheard of. John was also a fantastic committee member, he was always willing to help out and offer his valued advice in any way he could.
John was a builder / carpenter by trade but could turn his hand to anything and together with his brother Paddy they did the majority of the work including project managing the construction of our clubhouse back in 1986 / '87. There have been several extensions to it since and John has had a hand in them all, including managing and keeping an close eye on the budget.
John had a smile and kind word for all and we know how much this club meant to him, and all of his sons daughters and grandchildren wore our colours with pride and he travelled to every match to watch them play.
John was also a great Meath man and was so proud of his son David when he lined out with the Meath minors back in 1993 and no doubt one of his fondest memories would have been watching his grandson Ben play a big part in securing the 2020 Leinster MFC title and his grandaughter Megan O'Brien who also lined out for his beloved county of Meath from U-16 up to Intermediate grade until only a couple of years ago.
John also loved everything Irish, could sing an auld song as good as the next man and excelled on the accordion. He floated like a butterfly in the arms of his beloved wife Cathleen over the dancefloors of north Meath and loved set dancing, a man of many talents.
We would like to offer Cathleen and the Moran family our deepest sympathies and the support of this community through this challenging time. We extend our sympathies to the extended Moran family as we think of you all at this sad time.
John was a true club great and this is a sad day for St. Michaels GFC.
Youβll be remembered fondly near and far John.

A huge thank you to our team mate Lisa and her husband Anthony, from The Ark, Puddenhill, for sponsoring our new team tops. We really appreciate your generous sponsorship. Thank you for treating us recently to a lovely morning out at The Ark Puddenhill, it was great catching up together, lots of lovely tea, coffee, food was had and the children had a ball too.
