This coming weekend Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of October at Ballybay Church after mass we are having a collection to go towards the upkeep of the AED's, fund training and to replace batteries and Pads for the devices. Please support.
Sincere thanks to Michael Evans and Athlone Credit Union for a very generous donation of €600 to this great cause. it is greatly appreciated.
Updated Map with location of AEDs and Eircodes!
The Kiltoom Community AED and BLS Group are pleased to announce that Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) have been installed at the following locations around the Kiltoom area:
Feamore, Carrownderry, Carnagh, Barrymore, Barrybeg and Curramore. This is in addition to the existing AEDs at the Parish Hall, Collins Spar Express Shop, St Brigid's GAA Centre and Athlone Golf Club, Hudson Bay.
The Group wish to thank all those who contributed to the fundraising which enabled these devices to be installed. Each device will be registered with the National Ambulance Service (NAS) so that when callers dial 999/112 the NAS will alert the caller to the location of the nearest AED to them.
Further fundraising will take place to facilitate ongoing maintenance and community training in BLS and in use of the AED itself. The group hope in time to increase the number of AED's for placement in other areas in the community in future.

Well done Maeve!
The residents of a village in Co Laois would like to thank a community first responder Maeve Kelly from Athlone in Co Westmeath who was visiting the area on the night of the 22nd of July 2022 when a gentleman suddenly became very unwell .
A defibrillator was at hand within minutes and prompt action taken with Asprin administered while waiting on the emergency service to arrive from limerick.
Many thanks to this lady and we are happy to say that the gentleman is recovering well..

Hi All. Just a quick update on where we are with regard to purchase of AED devices. Progress is ongoing in the sourcing and commissioning of new devices for the area. There have been delays on the supply side due to many factors such as Covid 19, Brexit, material shortage etc. It is now expected that the devices will be supplied and installed within the next four weeks.
Once again we wish to thank the community for their support and generosity for this worthy cause.
Will keep you updated!
A special word of thanks to Rosie and all at Spectrum Signs who generously donated the banner that we have on the Church railings.
Much Appreciated Guys!
NOTE OF THANKS TO ALL FOR FUNDRAISING EVENT - March 2021
Kiltoom AED Group have had an immensely successful fundraising drive with their 5K Family Fun Run over the St Patrick’s Holiday week end. The purpose of the fundraising was to raise the necessary finance to purchase four Automated Electronic Defibrillators (AED) for placement at strategic locations throughout the area. The target funding was for €10K and the Group reported that the drive generated well in excess of this. The money will be used immediately to purchase the AEDs and their associated cabinets. It will also fund installation and maintenance costs. One generous donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, actually donated a further new AED device and cabinet for the area. The Group are now in the process of purchasing the units and exploring the logistics of installation at the agreed locations throughout Kiltoom. These locations when finalised, will be published by way of a map of the area which will be widely available to the public.
When the current Covid 19 pandemic is over, the Group propose to offer Basic Life Saving (CPR and AED) training to anybody in the area who wishes to undertake these worthy and necessary skills.
The Group now wish to acknowledge and thank sincerely all who donated to this initiative and want also to recognise the wide generosity of the various parish organisations and general public in this regard. It is also acknowledged that two existing AEDs in the area were donated in the past through a similar generosity of people of like mind, the Tony Parker Memorial Fund, who recognise the importance of these life saving devices, and that they should be freely available to the public of the area. Thanks also Collins Spar Shop on whose wall one of the AEDs is located and to those in the community who maintained the upkeep of these devices to date.
Once again well done to all the friends and families of the Kiltoom area.
Thank you to Bluebird Care for their kind donation.
