Hello, yesterday I uploaded this photo onto my Instagram page Instagram.com/kateformentalhealthsenator for World Mental Health Day. I thought it might be useful to post here too since I feel it is an important message to share and it's Mental health Week.
Happy World Mental Health Day. As I am running for Mental Health Senator and I have a keen interest in mental health I felt it important to make a post about World Mental Health Day and share some vital numbers that I got when I first started at Maynooth university.
I want you to know that it's okay not to feel okay and it's okay to feel okay or to feel somewhere in between. There are so many supports at college and beyond ready and waiting to be used.
Check in with yourself regularly, schedule that appointment and make time for self care. Reach out to your pals and peers. Meet them for a cuppa or send them a text. Ask them if they are okay and ask twice. Listening and being there can make the world of difference. ๐งก๐๐๐๐
Hello! I just want to say a huge thank you for all the support on this page and my Instagram page during the campaign time. Thanks also for the kind words from people I have met face to face this week, it is so encouraging and it makes me extra excited to be applying for the position of Mental Health Senator. Good times ahead my friends!!
Hello again,
Mental Health Senator is a new senate position and the duties of the position are outlined in the MSU constitution. I thought I'd take this opportunity to share them with you:
The Mental Health Senator shall be able to assist the Vice President Welfare and Equality:
1. Campaigning and lobbying in relation to mental health issues
2. Promoting positive mental health awareness through events
3. Promoting awareness of issues that may affect the mental health of members of the Union
4. Liaising with relevant societies, including by collaborating on events
The whole MSU Constitution is available on www.msu.ie
Very soon I will be sharing my hopes and goals if I were to be elected for the role of Mental Health Senator. I look forward to sharing them with you!
Hi, as you probably know by now my name is Kate and I am running for the senate position of Mental Health Senator. I'd like to take this opportunity to share a little more about me here.
I am a final year BCL student. I study Law and English. I am passionate about student life and student welfare. For the past two years I have been an orientation leader and it's honestly been one of my favourite memories of my time at Maynooth University so far. I loved working as part of team and doing my best to welcome the new first years to Maynooth University because lets face it university can be a challlenging place but a friendly face and a listening ear can make all the difference.
I have been involved in a number of fabulous socities over the past two years. I've participated in drama society plays and even directed one with the society too. I am involved in setting up MU Times society with Niamh Farrell. We hope to reach more students and host events for them throughout the year.
I am a member of the Mental Health Society and the sub committee Baby Elephants in which I helped on a Random Acts of Kindness Stand in the arts block. I am passionate about positive mental health, helping people and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health.
I've created an Instagram page for my campaign. Here you can keep up to date with all things relating to my campaign and mental health. Instagram.com/kateformentalhealthsenator
