Blest Are You

"Blest Are You", I wrote this many years ago to accompany the preparation and offering of gifts at mass. It has had many outings, and people react positively to it. One of the biggest problems to it being used more is the lack of "singing Priests." At MMT we are blessed to have Dom Richard Purcell - he is a singing priest, in fact after our TV mass I got a couple of comments saying "singing priests they do exist!" So here is Blest Are You sung by the wonderful voices of Sinead Fleming and Seán Kenny and of course Dom Richard Purcell with members of the MMT choir.

I Shall Be Filled
Psalm 17(16) I Shall Be Filled from our TV mass a few weeks ago.Sung by the wonderful Kim Lynch and Seán Kenny. Hope you enjoy it!

First outing of a new piece of music today "Ave Maria" taught at the workshop in Cork. Thanks to Sinead Fleming for the video.

So the past few weeks I have been working on a little project for the local community of Moneygall. I was commissioned to to set a poem of Thomas MacDonagh to music. MacDonagh was born in Cloughjordan, County Tipperary around 11km from Moneygall. He was one of the seven leaders of the Easter Rising of 1916 and a signatory of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. Challenge given to me, challenge accepted. I set about composing a setting of his poem “The Coming-In of Summer”. Tonight for Culture night we realised the song. It has lots of local musicians and singers on the track. Here is the video of the song. Hope you enjoy it.

Hail Holy Queen
So at MMT we premiered a new piece of music of mine called "Hail Holy Queen." We sang it on the Thursday night during the concert with Liam Lawton. Here it is sung by the wonderfully talented Dylan Rooney and all at MMT.
