We’ve had a big week here with our eldest graduating 6th year, exciting times ahead for her. So I’m a bit late posting this piece, but better late than never.
You can’t beat a good bureau and this one does not disappoint. I went simple and sleek for the design but splashed out on those fabulous art deco handles…..expensive but really complete the look.
And that’s a wrap for this week while we recover from all the celebrations 😊

Ready for a photo shoot…

Back to my roots with this piece with a beautiful Japanese motif. I decided fresh and bright for this one with the hint of spring in the air. Light grey all over, including the interior, with the motif and all hardware in silver.
As with most mid century cocktail cabinets this one also has the iconic auto opening top which displays the triple mirror on the interior. Plenty of storage also in the base cabinet for all your tipples.

Looking for a very special whiskey gin bar?
Sometimes I come across a piece that I get extra excited about and this is one of those. I could see a glimmer of what the walnut could look like once all the old varnish was removed and knicks knocked out. While the interior was something very special….a triple swinging mechanism for the ultimate wow factor, this had to be fixed first too. A total pare back was needed for this one.
Sleek black on the interior and sides, new mirrors, handles, legs and of course that beautiful walnut burr, what’s not to love about this beauty now.

Finally finally after what seems like a forever illness, this beautiful bureau is completed just in time for all the festive lights to go on.
A very heavy and sturdy piece and also one of the more larger bureaus, this beauty is just waiting to be loved and used daily again. A coal black exterior and natural sealed interior with some gilding for a pop ✨.

A beautiful light and fresh cabinet newly completed this week…… can be used for any storage , including a cocktail cabinet as it has the trade mark pull out mirror tray. Gone is the dull orange varnish that covered the entire piece, and my shoulder are feeling every inch of all that sanding
A light cream mocha for the base and full interior and the exterior is fully pared back to its natural wood and sealed.

And this 1950’s cocktail cabinet took some amount of work too as it’s deceptively large….. which equals a large amount of storage. It’s teak exterior generously now sealed with heapings of Danish oil, a sleek dark interior, new mirrors and hardware ✨
There is a slight bow to one door but still closes and locks. If we make to our 70’s in this great condition, we’ll all be doing great 😊

I finished this piece in the horrendous July rains, dreaming of summer sun and warm evenings, cocktails with friends, manifesting those heady days of summer.
I’m a sucker for a cocktail cabinet and updated this one with a full sanding, some new legs and hardware and of course some gilded geometric details on the front. A deep blue for the interior and sides to compliment it all. Just waiting to be filled now

It’s a glorious day, the May sun is shining, it’s the weekend…..is there a more perfect day for cocktails? I think not.
This classic beauty is ready to go with its new makeover, deep midnight blue with just a touch of gilding, the always impressive triple mirror with auto opening doors, and beautiful original gold tone pulls. Lots of storage for all your party tipples, so what are you waiting for 🍸🍸

I think it’s safe to say I have a weakness for cocktail cabinets at this stage. There’s just something about them that I love to restore, either a classical design such as this one or an MCM design.
Thankfully there was not much to repair on this one, some dark varnish removal on the front to reveal it’s beautiful wood grain, a navy finish to the interior and body and a triple interior mirror added with some new hardware. It’s got neat proportions so if you’re tight on space and always wanted a cocktail cabinet, then this one’s for you.
All that’s needed now is to fill it with your favourite mixes.

Who doesn’t love some black and gold, especially when pared on a cocktail cabinet. This mid century piece was treated to a full makeover ↪️ to see the original in the photos.
The exterior and upper interior are now sleek black, with the upper featuring a new triple mirror for all your cocktail reflections. I decided to go full on with the design, and I love the impact it makes, especially when pared with those new handles.

Newest piece finally complete…..

This long beauty, 7ft in total , needed an updated look from its original dark varnish. Now striking in dark navy with all it’s beautiful original hardware and a walnut stained top. Needless to say a lot of storage with this piece 😊

Now on to a couple of cocktail cabinets I managed to source, feels like too long since I did one of those.

Hi everyone, it’s been so long since I’ve written a post I may be a bit rusty, but sometimes life just slams you and you have to take some time out. But I’m happy to be back 😁
Entering 2023 with this fabulous Waring and Gillow piece, a company that has great provenance in the furniture business. I pared back this cabinet to its full original state, from dark dark varnish to its now brighter and more modern look, minor wood blemishes but so worth it. (Swipe to see how dark it was). No design, no embellishment, no guilding for this one, all original features shining through. The only decision is how you will use it……for your cocktail cabinet, linens, kitchen, any storage really.
Now I’ve found my working mojo, I’m off to start on the next piece.

First Friday of the festive season and no better day to bring you this glorious Edwardian curios cabinet. Took longer than expected to finish it, with a household of sick people to look after, but I got there in the end.
This shapely beauty has survived many decades with all original features intact, including the glass, which is amazing and also tested my nerves while I did a full strip out on it. Now fully restored with a deep black on the wood and silk embroidered backing and shelves, ready to grace any room.

Up this week is this fabulous antique Edwardian dumb waiter. With the darker days comes a lighter brighter piece. All solid wood and clean lines, it’s now reimagined for its future in light cream linen from with some gold gilding to sparkle and an oak walnut mix for the tops. A full strip as always and this fabulous wood was revealed, no longer hidden under decades of scuffs, marks and dark varnish. I think it’s safe to safe now, it’s one of my favourite things to do.
