Today I wanted to offer you one small way to start today.

Think of a time you hurt yourself recently and see yourself as a small child standing in front of you..

Offer yourself this simple sentence

“I am sorry for what I have done, and I hope that you will forgive me. I will do better with what I know now”

This allows us to let go, move forward and make new choices.💛

If the list of things you need to do to look after yourself is overwhelming you… Know this It is causing you to feel like you are failing and procrastinating so that is why you are putting ALL of those things off. 3 tips for when you are trying a new recipe👇🏼 If you are anything like me, you can quickly get tired of the same thing each week. Spaghetti bolognese anyone?🍝 But sometimes it can be hard to know where to begin with trying something new. Here are my top 3 tips when trying out a new recipe👇🏼 1. I choose something I know I can adapt for the family, but that I really like the look of. 2. I leave the recipe book open for the week, and I read the recipe a few times before the day I cook it. Remember we are home cooks so having a flow of the recipe will help when you feel confused, emotional or stressed. 3. I remind myself that it’s ok if I am the only person who likes this, it’s ok if I don’t even like it. Trying new recipes can be hard when you are building your relationship with food, so learning to speak to yourself kindly is a key skill that no chef is going to teach you in the kitchen! I am always looking for new, tasty recipes to try out at home. A problem I see with dieting and following the health trends is that you loose pleasure.Eating is one of the greatest pleasures in life. Eating for pleasure not only fuels the body but the mind as well.You loose that vital human connection when we reduce food down to just protein, carbs and fats.A disordered relationship with food can add stress, anxiety or guilt to a meal and we miss out on that pleasure when we put food on a pedestal. Addressing our relationship with food can take food from an enemy to a very good friend.

I sat amongst a group of women recently who said “don’t look at what I am eating” I don’t tell you what to eat and I certainly won’t make you feel less than because you don’t love “healthy” food. I BELIEVE in the power of your thoughts. A stressed body won’t think well, digest well, live well. Self compassion… Not something we got taught in schools is it? We may be able to offer a friend some words of compassion when they are struggling..but what about ourselves? We often tend to focus on our failures. Shame ourselves for ‘falling off the wagon’. The inner critic rears its head. There is a way to challenge that inner critic, and see our failures as opportunity. An opportunity for growth and to give ourselves some well needed self compassion. But a lot of us don’t know how to do that, because its not something we learn unless we go out and practice ourselves. It dosent happen overnight.. There was a moment a number of years back… that I discovered that food was not the answer to my health troubles, to anyones. Food is important but there are so many other factors. I was deadlocked in all or nothing thinking… There was a moment that I felt great fear. I had invested so much energy into educating myself and now it felt like we were breaking up. But we didn’t break up, we just grew together in a way that feels right for me. (Kind of helps that it’s backed by serious science and so much wisdom of clinical experience). Leaning into my curiosity, and headstrong determination, I carried on my mission and took in information from many disciplines. Every one of these have helped me to understand how to support health in a way that first feels right to me but also gives my clients achieve health goals in a way that is way deeper than appearance, body shape or diet plans. In my work, it’s like a pick and mix. We pull from all concepts from 👉intuitive eating 👉mindset coaching 👉transactional analysis 👉CBT 👉breath work 👉body image coaching 👉mindfulness. I know how to make it easy. I hold the belief that every woman can find true health. Every decision in life starts with a choice. A choice to look at things differently. A choice to wake up and know how to respond when your daughter asks about her changing body. A choice to wake up and know how to respond to family comments about weight. A choice to know that your not defined any more by that number you see on the scales. Self Confidence is a super power.. Once you believe in yourself Magic starts happening🪄 When I think of someone that oodles with self confidence, I think of someone who’s energy greets me head on before I have even heard them speak. My clients usually say to me that THEY WANT TO LOOK AFTER THEMSELVES. And they are planning to do so many productive things to do that. 👉However one key issue I see is that the focus is on the action…not the thoughts.
