We have a weekly group discussion with the admin EVERY MONDAY EVENING and topic is always announced beforehand.

Assignments are often given to members to work on in the week after the discussions. Sometimes, a little exercise is also given out on WEDNESDAYS to keep members busy and focused as they prepare.

This is strictly a study group where you can interact with other like-minds in pursuit of same objectives.

𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗫𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗥

In IELTS speaking, ensure to speak more than the examiner

What does this mean?

It means that when asked about a particular topic, you should say everything you know about it and continue talking until the examiner asks you to stop

This however, doesn't mean the same as talking nonsense, or simply rambling along meaninlessly. It means that you make it CONVERSATIONAL

Drive the topic your way and make the examiner to ask you some questions you can answer very well (you can do this)

Some questions require short answers and for those ones, you don't have to say more than required logically

𝗘𝗫𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝟭

Eg : Where do you live currently?

Ans: I live in Makoko area of Lagos

The above would be a logical response and what the examiner or any other person would expect you to say

There's no other way to REASONABLY answer this question and there's no need saying too much

You'll be scored low if you do

How do you feel about the place you live now?

Ans: I feel good ❌❌🙁

In this second example, the examiner wants you to DISCUSS how you feel about the place

He wants to know how you can handle a conversation or how good you can EXPLAIN a situation and in doing so, you'll be able to show your command of the common tenses

This is what they want and if you do so, you'll pass your speaking

When is your test?

Our topic today is

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗜𝗘𝗟𝗧𝗦 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘆

Just as the name depicts, this is an essay that describes a process

The process could be natural or artificial process

And, the question is usually asked that you should describe the process from beginning to end

It usually will be in a diagram with keypoints or features

You'll be asked to describe what you see

It's one of the uncommon essays in the exam

It's also among the easiest types if you understand it well

So, we should pay attention to understand how it's done

The question usually goes this way as in the example below.

There will be a diagram showing what you're asked to describe its process

SAMPLE PROCESS ESSAY QUESTION

The diagram shows the the life cycle of flowering plants

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features.

Write at least 150 words.

HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION

Like every other IELTS task one essay, you have to PARAPHRASE the question and go ahead and describe the process

Please note that yiu MUST paraphrase the question because it's scored

Paraphrasing means saying the same thing in a different way, using different words but retaining the same meaning of the SENTENCE

HOW TO STRUCTURE THE ESSAY

1. Introduction: Paraphrase the question, just like in other essay questions

2. Make a general overview of the main features you can see

You can use just 2 sentences for this, or 3

3. First body paragraph : here you should write about the first feature fully and logically

4. Second body paragraph : Write about the next Feature in full, logically.

The features have no formula. You only talk about what you see. It's purely your opinion, or perception of the diagram given, which may be different from another person looking at the same diagram.

In the process essay, like in all task 1 Academic, you don't need a conclusion
