I am very happy to be announcing a return to my roots and have relaunched my curated flower bouquets for pre order.

Each bouquet will be €60 and I will have a limited amount available each week for collection from dun laoghaire every Thursday.

I will pick the loveliest blooms for you each week and of course all of the greenery I use will be 100% Irish from
The bouquets will be supplied wrapped in compostable Kraft paper and tied with a burlap ribbon making 100% of our product and its packaging Plastic free.

Bouquets are available from Thursday January 11th and are available to pre-order now.

Only a few days left to join myself & the octet at Arthur's Blues & Jazz Club with special guests Tommy Halferty, Scott Flanigan and Ronan Guilfoyle as we pay tribute to pianist Ken Stuart on the 40th anniversary of his passing. Ken was an unsung hero of the Dublin jazz scene who passed away way too young. What you’re hearing is a recording I found in John Wadham’s archive of the Butler Fox band playing Ken’s arrangement of Duke Ellington’s tune Queen Bess from 1971!
This band preceded the latter group Ken set up with Rock Fox called “Rock Fox and his famous Orchestra”, a name he coined using the common terminology of the day, and this recording is a joy and I’m delighted to say there’s 6 more tracks.
Tommy also had a duo with Ken and we’ll be opening the first set of the night with Tommy and Scott playing some of the tunes they played along with a never heard original of Ken’s dedicated to his daughter Lizzy! . Then, Ronan and I will join them for some quartet tunes to round off the set.
For the second half my octet will perform a wonderful tune of Ken’s before playing his arrangements of Ellington and some of our arrangements of tunes by Gerry Mulligan, with Tommy joining us as guest soloist.
It’s going to be a wonderful night and even if you never heard of Ken before, come along and pay homage to this pioneer of the Dublin jazz scene and enjoy a great night of music into the bargain.

Ken Stuart Tribute

Ken Stuart was a Stallworth of the Dublin Jazz scene from the late 60’s to the early 80’s. A fine pianist/vibist and composer he played with everyone on the scene at the time including Louis Stewart, Dick Buckley, John Wadham, as well as having a duo with Tommy Halferty. He was a Duke Ellington specialist and played his music with Rock Fox’s famous orchestra for many years, co-arranging much of the music. He also accompanied many of the international artists that came by in those days.

Ken left us 40 years ago this year so we’ll be paying tribute to him on Sat Sept 2nd, by playing some of his music as well as the tunes he loved to play. We’ll feature his long-time musical buddy Tommy Halferty playing duo with Scott Flanigan, a quartet with myself and Ronan ,and then join the Octet as guest soloist. Also joining us is Ronan Guilfoyle (no relation 😊) one of the finest bassists in the country who played with Ken many times.

For the occasion we have done a lot of detective work and thanks to Ken's Wife and Daughter we’ve been able to put together a composition of Ken’s that will receive its premiere on the night. This will be followed by an octet set of Duke Ellington arrangements as played by Ken in the Rock Fox Orchestra, with Tommy as guest.

So please join us to celebrate a wonderful Irish jazz musician who deserves more recognition as well as enjoying a great night of swinging music in his name.
