Washington-Ireland Programme (WIP)
This is an exciting and prestigious programme, which gives irish students of any discipline an opportunity to do a summer internship in Washington. Getting a place on this programme is fairly competitive. However, William O'Reilly (Applied Psychology Grad, 2015) put his best foot forward a couple of years ago and was successful and had an amazing summer in Washington.
The Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP), is a one year program of personal and professional development that brings outstanding university students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to Washington, DC for summer work placements and leadership training. The program begins and ends with substantive practical service in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Through an intense eight-week schedule in Washington DC, WIP participants are formed into a team and challenged to develop their vision for the future of post-conflict Ireland. Students gain invaluable practical experience by completing work placements in US government, media, business and non-profit organizations.
At the end of the summer, participants return to the island of Ireland with enhanced professional and interpersonal skills, as well as a new confidence in their ability to work together to make a positive difference.
For more information visit wiprogram.org
Applications are open from 18th October and close on the 1st December.
If you would like to find out more Adam McAvoy, Recruitment Officer of WIP, will have a stand in the Atrium on Thursday next, November 3rd, between 12 and 2pm. He will also give a presentation in the Library (Silent Cinema) at 1.10pm.
