What a fabulous Thursday pick-me-up!!! ๐ฅฐโค๐Thank you so much for the incredibly thoughtful graduation package and handwritten card!!๐ Being part of the Ideas Academy 2021 was such a fantastic experience that allowed us to grow and learn so much as a social enterprise. The unwavering support from everyone in SEI and the Ideas Academy has been so inspiring... we are very grateful and excited for our next steps๐คฉ๐
Happy Halloween!๐งก๐๐โโฌ๐๐ฆ๐Seeing spiderwebs at this time of year always reminds me of a moment a few years back, when my youngest child threw her arms around me squeezed me tight and thanked me for growing all the spiderwebs by the front door! I had just been in the middle of a thought about what a crap human I was at the time...I hadn't got around to cleaning that door, or decorating for Halloween, I never made it to the park with the kids as promised, homework wasn't done, dinner wasn't prepared, I was behind on paperwork and laundry mountain had finally toppled over...I felt I was toppling over too. But with one squeezy hug, my then 4 year old managed to anchor me in the present so I could let go. Like autumn leaves falling to the ground I let go of all the expectations I had set, allowing myself a moment to savour a very precious hug, and the relief was instant. The laundry will always (always!) be there, dinner isn't ready...yet, homework isn't done...yet, and that's OK...you are enough and what matters is being kind to ourselves especially in those tricky moments. Obviously I took credit for having spiderweb growing powers though!๐๐ฅฐ๐งก

It's freebie Friday!! Just for you...Pumpkin breaths! ๐๐งก Here's a lovely breathing technique that might be handy in the run up to mid term. Connecting with our breath like this helps us feel relaxed and calm whilst reducing stress and tension. In moments of anxiety, mindful breathing lowers our heart rate allowing us to pause and reset. Such a valuable life skill!๐ Younger children really enjoy using this technique during exploration with real pumpkins too...as they trace the ridges of the pumpkin breathing in...and out๐ฅฐ.
It's World Mental Health day!๐๐ฅฐ๐ง The theme for is Tools2Thrive...practical techniques that help us to look after our mental wellbeing. On rainy days, ๐ง we sometimes use a raincoat or umbrellaโ...and in tough moments we can use some mindfulness and self-care. Tough moments are like storms...they always pass. We love this beautifully illustrated technique from ..."when the big things feel out of control....focus on what you love right under your nose" ๐ฅฐ๐
Here's a lovely simple October activity to build into your daily self care and gratitude routine. The little humans in this house have really enjoyed it, and it has definitely made bedtimes a little easier as they look forward to adding their favourite moment to our Gratitude Pumpkin๐๐งก๐๐ฅฐ. You will need: a pumpkin and a marker...at the end of each day everyone picks a word that reminds them of their favourite part of the day. Write the words on the pumpkin and enjoy๐งก๐ง ๐

Happy World Gratitude Day!!๐ฅฐ๐ฅณโค๐ Gratitude can be a real game changer...Did you know that even thinking of something you're grateful for can improve your mental and physical health, decrease your blood pressure, increase self esteem, and aids better sleep?!๐ฎ๐ฅฐ We love filling a Gratitude jar with drawings and pictures of things we're grateful for. It's a really lovely activity and particularly helpful as part of a bedtime routine for any worry warriors.โค

Who would like a simple back to school tool? This is a pocket hug!๐ค๐ฅฐ Perfect for keeping in your pocket or a pencil case too. Anytime you need a hug or you're feeling a little anxious, you can hold it in your hand and rub the smooth surface. Take a nice deep breath in ....and out. You've got thisโค๐งก๐๐๐๐
Make your own pocket hug by painting a pebble or small stone in your favourite colour. Some clear varnish will seal it. Try rubbing your favourite cream or some perfume on it too to smell as you breath in and out. ๐ค๐ 2021
