M. Stowe - A vision of cultivating community through restorative practice (RP); promoting well-being, happiness & education through positive relationships.

CONNECT RP facilitates, nurtures and empowers those seeking to grow relationships through empathy and connection. We seek to co-create relational school communities that embody and model the restorative philosophy, honouring the understanding that we are profoundly relational, interconnected and inherently good. Supporting individuals and communities to move from this restorative intention to livi

Super energy from school leaders at IPPN workshop today, really invested & insightful around the time, modelling & mindset of growing a school committed to as a vehicle to enhance school culture.

The theme of navigating the paradigm shift emerged strongly today & we looked at ways to offer invitations, experiences & opportunities for staff to grapple & reflect in context which is what is needed if we are looking to transform educational practice - moving away from a ‘train & hope’ model, looking at longterm implementation pathways for sustainability & authentic change.

We looked at the need for policy reform but not rushing this too quickly that we leave our community behind.. implementing RP in a restorative way is key… small shifts in language can be helpful; moving from ‘warnings’ to ‘reminders’ conveys the intention to support, from ‘rules’ to ‘expectations’ informed by values offers more flexibility and opportunities for success.
Also.. how beautiful is Kerry!!

Restorative practice is deeply connected to social and emotional learning, not just for students but for adults as well. Dr. Lori Desautels reminds us that true restoration begins with an awareness of our own nervous systems and sensations. By learning to self-regulate, we can create environments where everyone—educators and students alike—can manage emotions, solve problems, and foster genuine healing ❤️‍🩹💡

What an amazing few days at NAPD National Conference 2024 -Reimagining Leadership, Prioritising School Leaders.

I was so struck by the support, joy, wisdom, vibrant sense of community & hope co-created by the community & held by the outstanding team that is National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals (NAPD) you all must be so proud of the positive impact you make in the world of education & in the lives of school leaders & the communities they serve!

Our workshop on Empowering your Leadership Team facilitated a process to tap into the collective wisdom and experience in the room. We reflected on how our 10 min solution-focussed ‘Try Circle’ might be transferable to working WITH school teams in a way that is expedient yet values-based; seeking to disrupt habits of communication that may hinder collaboration, equity of voice and enhance empathy, trust & accountability.

Circle process is one way to breath life into Marie Gleeson ‘s inspiring message of ‘Spirit of the Team’ and the heart-centred ontological way of being highlighted (& modelled) by Patricia Mannix McNamara .

I’m learning so much from so many … & am grateful for the warm welcome & invitation to share the work I care deeply about; seeking ways to integrate Restorative Practice as a vehicle to enhance the relational school culture that Sonia Gill articulated so well.

Thank you all! 🌻
