βWhat are Split Nights
This is when baby is awake for prolonged periods overnight, they usually appear content and ready to start the day!!
βWhat Causes Split Nights
An imbalance in daytime sleep is the most common cause
Too much daytime sleep or a bedtime that is too early.
Baby's body clock is confused as sleep pressure is too low.
βHow to Improve Split Nights
Focus on daytime sleep. Daytime naps are usually either too long or too short. If naps are too short, try to re-settle baby to extend the nap and if naps are too long, wake the baby.
Look at bedtime, ensure an appropriate wake window between your babies last nap and bedtime. Try to avoid over or under tiredness.
Wake baby in the morning at a consistent time regardless of how your night went. This will help to establish your babies body clock.

Here are two examples of routines suitable for babies aged 12-18 months old. At this age some babies can have 1 nap and some are on 2 naps. I have included an example of each for you.
HOW MANY NAPS DOES/DID YOUR BABY HAVE AT THIS AGE??
Let me know in the comments ..π
Here are some of my examples of routines suitable for 9-12 month old babies. Usually at this age babies are on 2 naps per day, with most hopefully sleeping through the night π€π€
Again please remember "no one size fits all" when it comes to babies and sleep so don't worry.
Don't forget to share this post and share it with your friends with babies of this age π
