Breezes through the Miscanthus (an old Kleine cultivar) and the burning Salvia confertiflora

Stipa gigantea in the wind. So lovely to still have so much colour in the garden but we're definitely starting to lean towards the Autumn.

Another tour, another rainy day. Genuinely think the colours get a better show when the skies are grey, but the rain is completely unnecessary. Still, if a garden still looks amazing in weather like this, then it must be a pretty special garden.

Yep, genuinely unravelled an entire ball of string. Must have got caught on something in the tunnel. Was about 20 ish metres worth. Was a very frustrating afternoon then trying to find the end of the biggest heap of string every single time. But woohoo cos its the weekend. Have a good one 💚

The buzz of bees, the song of an angel and the unexpected arrival of a small dog. Its all go! This is Eryngium Big Blue. Excellent straight forward name. Probs why the bees love it so much, excellent straight forward sort of creatures.

Little bees on the thyme hedge in the potager today. Welcome friends 💚

Chewie was as desperate to get to work as I was this morning! Bring on another day of planting and weeding and all things brilliant and green! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CsCHtXnP22q/?igshid=NjZiM2M3MzIxNA==

Nope. Me neither. #newhouseidiosyncracies #whywouldsomeonedothis

Mindful moment. Can't beat the sound of the waves.

Never realised I "boom" on every screw until someone was there watching! Unintentional product placement Bradfords Building Supplies but I do love this hat 💚

BBC Radio Somerset came to visit school last week. We had a lovely chat with Kelly about the plans for the allotment club as well as the importance of the therapeutic garden. It's always tricky trying to raise awareness of our programme of STH, what it means for our children and the positive impact it has on our school and wider community. As much as we want to share the stories of the children in the programme we have to be aware of any intrusion on their session and the effect on the ongoing therapeutic relationship. The children of the Allotment Club were super kind to step in and give their opinions on behalf of everyone. I'm very proud and privileged as always to work with all these brilliant kids. The full clip is on @bbcsounds on the 6am show on Radio Somerset about an hour and a half in. Huge thanks to Bradfords Building Supplies for their ongoing support of the therapeutic garden 💚 #radiosomerset #somerset #keintonmandeville #schoolgarden #gardeningwithkids #therapeutichorticulture #horticulturaltherapy #socialandtherapeutichorticulture #kidsmentalhealth #childrensmentalhealth #horticultureinschools

Just a bit of international collab, from Glastonbury to Wicklow, Ireland. I had a lot of fun creating a video for participants of @festinaleinteequestriangardens STH Experiential and Educational Day a couple of weeks back. Here's a snippet where I totally grass up the Headmaster for pinching a terrarium! Super lovely co-creation and collaboration between incredible women, all of us having changed careers to focus on our love of plants! Marina Levitina is a film-maker as well as a sacred plant healer and a founder member of Lough Grainey Nature Sanctuary in Co. Clare. Marina has been working with refugee children traumatised by war, using a grounding in nature to start to heal. Alison Digney of Horticultural Therapy Ireland who came to recognise the power of plants as therapy in her career in the criminal justice system and has since become the first person in Europe to earn an MSc in Social & Therapeutic Horticulture. Alison raised the importance of the recognition of the qualifications and experience of STH Practitioners in ensuring service users are fully protected and best helped through STH sessions. There was also a presentation by the Association of Social & Therapeutic Horticulturists of Ireland, a new and expanding network of registered practitioners something we've been hoping to achieve in the UK for years but still haven't managed! Super good fun and always exciting to overcome small challenges like being in a different country with slightly shade rural broadband. Thanks for having me Festina Leinte! #socialandtherapeutichorticulture #therapeutichorticultureireland

Lost in a terrarium for a bit today... #terrarium #mossgarden

Another watery mindful moment and a breath of thanks for it 💚

A watery mindful moment. And a reminder of how lucky we are to have it!

Apparently it is not usual to have to move around quite so much when walking down a straight path! It's quite a workout! But there's nothing as sad as the sound of a stem bursting with bud snapping and collapsing into the ground so it's worth making the effort. It's also mostly my own fault for using every inch of bed either side, oh and also putting containers on the oath in the first place! #myrealgarden #pathsareforplants #irresistibleoutdoors Music: Dayspring Musician: Firefl!es URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoplw2Cc3xc

Dividing bearded irises. Now's a good time as the flowers are well and truly over but do be careful moving and planting in this heat and remember to water in well so the plants can establish themselves again. Key points: ⭐ Break off or cut off the unproductive part of the rhizome, the bit that has no shoots or greenery coming from it. It's not needed anymore but is liable to rot in the Winter which causes probs for the rest of the rhizome. ⭐ Divide the rhizomes up so each chunk has its own roots and shoots. ⭐ Reduce the leaves to reduce windrock and water loss, typically done as a chevron but it really doesn't matter. ⭐ Place the rhizome on the surface of the soil, it needs to be fully baked by the sun to flower but the roots need to be in the soil to stay cool and take up moisture. Gravel mulch helps to keep the plant in place until it's rooted in. It also keeps it dry. #horticulturehowto #gardenjobs #irresistibleoutdoors Music: See You Musician: @iksonmusic

Wait for it, wait for it!! Super big love to The Field Project in Catsham near me. Such a brilliant environment for young adults to build their skill set for the wider world, including bee box making! Delighted to have caught a buzzer coming out of the house Crosby made for me earlier this year. Hope you're proud of it Crosby, you've done a smashing job! The Field Project will be at the local Food Fayre in Baltonsborough this weekend so do go say hi to them and have a peruse of their wares, including bee boxes and bird boxes and all kinds of excellent things! 💚
