The use of ankle strengthening in a rehabilitation programme has proven to be very effective for many clients however it is crucial that these are accompanied by both proprioception and range of motion work. . The most common ankle injury in sport is lateral ankle sprain which involves over inversion and planterflexion of the joint. Strengthening of the perineal muscles and also training the motor control of this movement, prevents recurrent “rolling” of the ankle and a more functional platform when running and walking. . ⚡ The quads are a muscle group found on the front of the thigh and is formed by 4️⃣ muscles: rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius and vastus medialis. These muscles are primarily responsible for knee extension, with the rectus femoris also assisting in hip flexion ⚡ - Functionally, these muscles are heavily involved in sit-to-stand movements, climbing stairs, walking + running, cycling, lifting — the list goes on!
