Portrait Of A Runner / Miriam Farhi Rodrig
PORTRAIT OF A RUNNER is a meditation on the juxtaposition of encounters, seen through the eyes of a not so young marathon runner, a flaneur and a dreamer.
It is a contemplation about the joy of running marathons and about the human condition.

I'm sorry to have neglected my page for such a long time. No excuses, other than my laziness. If I started writing then I pledge to go on and write on my plans, changing passions, life in general. These are things I think about but do not fit the regular facebook posts. Here I want to be more sensitive, questioning and ready to share more intimate or better more detached from our daily life. Yes I know what I want to share here as a new beginning: the war in Ukraine. It is a big discomfort to me to think that about 5.5million people are displaced dislocated. many in Ukraine are losing their lives or are alive suffering, waiting for this war to be over, hopefully with some kind of melodrama that will be called victory or whatever. If the shooting stops and the Russian forces retreat, then a new beginning. This is a yearning that accompanies me, day after day, night after night. C U soon ...
Hello my friends, my dearest friends. First an apology for taking so much time to be active in this page. Laziness? sickness? busy? nonono. I was lost, I had some sort of trauma? (i don't really know what trauma is) or maybe a depression after giving birth (I don't really know what a depression after birth is) Actually, I think I needed some time on my own to wander, to think, to search, to go beyond or whatever. Now I'm back and kicking. I have to make some readjustments but, in particular, I want to write my next little book, I want to master my new language that I'm learning, literary Arabic (read and write), keep up with my sports and support both the community of immigrants and the evolving global community with its problems...
My little book, "Portrait of a Marathon Runner" was received quiet well and the comments and critics were diverse and interesting, I'll consider the remarks I received while writing my next book. Again on running, but only on struggling to make it to 10k 15k and maybe eventually 21k. Of course it will be a memoire with my struggle to learn Arabic, to give a meaning to the current turn of affairs, from Covid 19 to the struggle of the empire with new coalitions ,to the prospect of the Middle East. Yes, yes, yes, in my book, I , purposely, avoided discussing the Middle East as my school friend, Elda Abravaya, pointed to me, from fear of 'the establishment', whayever that is.
Last, instead of creating this page after publishing my book, now I will share, here, my ideas and approaches that I discuss in my next book. I am counting on the feedback from you, my friends and on anything you would like to share on any issue of your choice.
I'm happy I'm back...Take care!
Miriam Rodrig-Farhi
A wonderful touching inspiring story. After all, the only way we can judge a person is the extent of morality the person exposes. The story was inspiring back then in the second half of the 20ieth century and all the more so today...

The White Man in That Photo Sometimes photographs deceive. Take this one, for example. It represents John Carlos and Tommie Smith’s rebellious gesture the day they won medals for the 200 meters at the 1968 Summer Olympics...
