Workers should not have to work injured and still struggle with the cost of living: rent, food, and bills. This year, hotel workers in 20+ cities across the U.S. and Canada are fighting for a raise so we can provide a good quality of life for ourselves and our children. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

So many hotel workers across the U.S. and Canada feel the same way as Shamika: overworked, mentally and physically exhausted, and losing family time because of it. We fight for a better contract. We fight for better benefits. We fight for our families. 🙏

Kamala Harris at the 2024 UNITE HERE Convention
UNITE HERE, the union running the nation's largest labor-led canvassing operation, proudly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President in the 2024 election. Harris has consistently shown her unwavering dedication to working people and the labor movement. It’s Up To Us to defeat Donald Trump and his plans to divide us. WE WILL NOT GO BACK. Listen to VP Harris at our 2024 Convention:

More than 10,000 hotel workers from Waikiki Beach to Boston are taking strike votes in August – because hotel companies are making more money than ever before while workers AND guests lose out. We’re ready to fight. We won’t let them claw back our power or take the hospitality out of hotels. And we’re just getting started: more than 40,000 hotel workers have contracts up this year. Get ready for something big. Watch and join us.

Fasil’s got it right! $16 an hour is not enough in today’s economy. Hotel workers will not stop fighting for a better contract until we win. 🙅

We’re tired of missing our children’s lives due to working 12 hours a day for a company that doesn’t care about us. Hotel workers like La’Tan across the U.S. and Canada are forced to choose between family and work every day. We’re fighting against this injustice. 📢

We shouldn’t have to choose between one of life’s greatest gifts like starting a family or having to save money for that month’s bills and food. Isaac and 40,000+ hotel workers across the U.S. and Canada face hardships like these on the daily. 😤

San Francisco is one of the 20+ cities where hotel contracts expire this year. Bill, like many members, has that fiery passion in his heart to win and push for a better future! 😎

Rent and grocery prices are through the roof while workers’ wages aren’t enough. We’re fighting for a strong contract to battle inflation that affect us and our families. Companies need to respect the hard work that hotel workers do like Miguel’s tough daily routine. 💯

Hotel workers in the U.S. and Canada are taking it to the next level! Workers like Wanda deserve respect and better workloads. ✊

The last 5 years were like nothing we experienced before – but we organized our way through it. Despite the pandemic’s effect on our industries, WE ORGANIZED 70,000 NEW MEMBERS. Our incredible growth helped mitigate the industry’s efforts to reduce our power. We fought back, and we’ll keep fighting back – because we know IT’S UP TO US.

Strike City: The 2023 Detroit Casino Strike
As Black History month winds down, we take a moment to recognize that Black history is our history. And Detroit history is the history of the labor movement. In Detroit, workers were promised good jobs when the casinos were built, and the companies didn't keep that promise. But, they companies underestimated us. They didn’t think we’d strike, but we did. Watch this mini documentary about casino workers in UNITE HERE and the Detroit Casino Council rising up and demanding to be heard last fall. Through standing together and striking we won historic contracts!
