When we're squeezed through, what remains? What is it that's really true to us? Note from an undying optimist.
Dharana is the sixth anga of the Ashtanga (eight limbs of yoga) Dharana means concentrate. Dedicated concentration, and heightened awareness on one aspect. This here, is a trataka practice. Look at the flame of a candle with the awareness of just that, and nothing else, for about two to three minutes. Then, close your eyes and focus on the flame that you will see in your chidakasha (the sky of the mind. You'll be attuned with that space, just as you close your eyes.) Keep your focus there for as long as possible. Have fun with your practice. See how many places you can reinforce 'Dharana' Your trataka practice can be established with anything from drinking water, drinking tea, or walking and dancing most definitely. At many times, we practice Dharana without being aware that we're doing it. That's the beauty of it. The more you let go of enforcing something, the easier it is for it to be allowed to flow through you. #yoga

"We Change Each Other" "Hum Ek Doosre Ko Badalte Hai" So true. So when we have the power, let's influence each other's lives for the better. Spread happiness, kindness and loads of love. I loved this! Saw it post our show, at Carter Road, Bandra. Have you seen this, yet?
"Ahimsa" - Non Violence Is the first, most important Yama of Yoga. Ahimsa pertains not only to the "himsa" (violence) we do unto others, but also what we do unto our own selves. If you are kind to yourself, it's much easier to be kind to every'thing' around. People, Animals, Nature, Sentiments, Emotions, The Body...... The other Yamas and Niyamas are also related to Ahimsa. For example, Satya (truth) must not be disclosed to another, if "himsa" maybe the outcome of the truth. Ahimsa is always the core, and one must be mindful of it at all times. Have a kind and loving day.
Yoga is all about using your energies right. When we go through our day, we lose a lot of energy doing the things that we do. A few elements contribute to us gaining energy. The most important of those being nature. A tree, a plant, an animal... They're all contributing to replenishing our energies. Communicate with nature in some way, every day. If you have a pet around you, it's the easiest way to do so. #yoga #health #healing #therapy #meditation #yogi #instayoga #peace #serenity #vritti #body #mind #spirit #soul #thought #bangalore #india #love #you #me #i #self #spiritual #belief #yogaeverywhere #instayogi #instadaily #yogaanywhere #yogainspiration
Easy way to get to your hand stand! Find a doorway that you fit into, and align your spine with the wall. Start by raising one foot up, and then repeat with the other. The walls will help you align correctly. When you get used to carrying your weight, you can move to the next step. I've had quite a journey getting my Inversions right. To let go of the fear is the main challenge, and then there's the bit about increasing your upper body strength. 💪 Take your time. Be patient, kind, and respect how much you are able to do. Good luck 😀👍 Namaste 😊🙏 #yoga #vritti
Many of you who have desk jobs, complain of bad backs. Do you realise that simple posture correction, and a few minutes of stretches every day, can completely eliminate the issue? This is your age to be fit, so take that small step towards fitness. Vritti will soon be having regular sessions in the center of the city. Those interested, do keep in touch for further information 😊
Our gratitude for the day. 😊🙏 They are such good kids! So obedient, but of course with a sprinkle of naughtiness from a few! 😉 Definitely with a lot of interest and involvement, that shines through in this video!
Here's another one, with these adorable darlings! The kids pick up really fast. Here's our attempt at the Vinyasa Surya Namaskar. #yoga #vritti
You'll love this video. I can't stop watching it! I had a session with the kids at Buoyancee/Page this afternoon. Before the session, I was happy to see that most of them were regularly practicing Yoga. Upon asking them what their favourite posture was, I was awed by their response. All sanskrit names, no one said the English names of the postures. Proud Indian! 👏👏👏 Great going, kids and teachers! 👍
Do you know that mudras are not necessarily practiced with just the hands? A mudra opens up, and allows the flow of energy by becoming a channel for the same. We all know mudras to be hand gestures. But Mudras are practiced using the entire body as well. The body thus becomes the medium to direct the flow of energy from the universal or cosmic space, into the individual self. These are of course, higher practices, which are said to lead to the awakening of Pranas, Chakras, and Kundalini. Practice of these mudras are adviced to be directed by your Teacher or Guru; to understand the entire circuit, and practice with mindfulness. #yoga #vritti Location : @tush*ta meditation center, Dharamkot We were late for their guided meditation practice that happens every morning (except Sundays) at 9.30 am. But we managed to spend some time at their heavenly location. I hope to be able to go there again, sometime soon. I couldn't get myself away from the silence and Serenity of that space. Must visit, for anyone who is into Yoga and Meditation.
