Assalamualikum everyone..

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuing charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him” [Muslim]

Building a mosque is a wonderful act of Sadaqah Jariyah! The reward for building a mosque is unending, and as long as people are benefiting from the mosque you’ve helped build then you will continue to receive rewards from Allah (SWT) even in the Hereafter.

The benefits of building a mosque are plain as day if you think of all the rewards you will receive for every single prayer made in your mosque!

We are requesting donations for the masjid renovation .

Markazi Jamia Masjid old town Baramulla

23/10/2022

The Jamia Masjid is located within the tightly built neighbourhood of the Jamia Mohalla of Baramulla old town. The area is plain and the masjid itself is located in the near vicinity of the River Jhelum on its right bank, across the bridge. A mountainous profile forms the background of the neighbourhood.
The Jamia Masjid at Baramulla is said to be constructed during the time of Sultan Zain-ul-Abideen. It was renovated for the first time during the Mughal period by Aurengzeb. The mosque was badly damaged in an earthquake of 19th century and renovated in 1313 AH 1895 AD by Abdul Samad.
Like the historic town of Srinagar, Baramulla is yet another significant town located on the banks of River Jhelum. The principal occupation of the people for many generations has been that of fruit business and therefore the area around the town is seen dotted with many sprawling apple orchards. A number of significant religious places for both Hindus and Muslims are seen in and around the town.
The mosque is based on a square plan with an area of about 5000sft 80ft each side and is representative of monumental wooden architecture of Kashmir. The property is located within its own compound which has a number of chinars. The interiors consist of a series of robust, fluted wooden columns that support the heavy, three-tiered roof over the mosque. It has a soaring height which is highlighted by a double height with a decorative, flat wooden ceiling. The main entrance to the building is on the eastern side leading into a square double height chamber. A heavily carved doorway on the eastern face leads to the main prayer hall. The mosque is surmounted by a pyramidal roof with an octagonal brangh pavilion covered with a spire The building exists in an excessively modified state presently.
There are various ornamental details emphasizing the building. The entrance door has a heavily carved architrave but the door itself is a recent addition. The deodar wood columns are tall, fluted and has brackets at four sides which support the wooden beams of the ceiling. The traditional cheri jebi ceiling is also carved, the beam sides are carved with floral motifs. The mimbar is highlighted by cusped arch, decorative niches and naqashi. The eaves board and the pendants at the roof corners are also ornamental in quality. The column-beam arrangement divides the ceiling into a square grid with the central square portion comprising wooden corbelled ceiling similar to the ancient stone temple ceilings of Kashmir.
