The most anticipated event of the year by the Swashakti's Empowerment Cell for Women unfolded with grandeur and excitement on October 14th and 15th! 🎉
This two-day extravaganza brought together over 1100 women, each competing in a series of vibrant and creative competitions like Rangoli, Napkin Folding, Calligraphy, Cookery, Fruit & Vegetable Carving, Singing, and Dancing. Every event highlighted the incredible talent and creativity of the participants, truly capturing the essence of women empowerment.
The dance performances stole the show, beautifully portraying mythological stories that symbolized the powerful role of women in driving revolutionary changes throughout history. 💫
The lively atmosphere fostered a deep sense of camaraderie, perfectly reflecting Swashakti’s mission of empowering women through engagement and self-expression.
Key office bearers, including Vice-Presidents, the Chief Coordinator, Secretary, and Treasurer, graced the event and applauded the dedication of the organizing team. Special thanks to the esteemed judges for ensuring a fair and spirited contest! 🙌

💖Your Health Matters: Early Detection Saves Lives 💖
On September 20th, 2024, the KLE Society’s Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women successfully conducted a Breast Cancer Screening Camp at Primary Health Care Centre Yellur, screening 91 women for early detection and awareness. This initiative is a vital step in promoting health and empowering women in our community.

On September 4th, the KLE Society’s Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women hosted its Annual General Body Meeting, uniting 1,200 incredible women for an inspiring day of progress and empowerment! 🌸 A welcome address was delivered by Dr. Jyoti Kavlekar, setting the tone for a day filled with inspiration and progress.
The event showcased the immense strides we’ve made this year as Dr. Neha Dhaded, our dedicated Secretary, presented the Annual Report, highlighting 19 powerful projects that have made a meaningful difference in our community.
From enhancing soft skills for personal and professional growth, to First Aid training for drivers ensuring safety, and the construction of toilets in female schools to support dignity and hygiene—our work has touched many lives. We also partnered with Seval NGO for health camps, hosted a pelvic floor dysfunction camp, and ran impactful sensitization programs on workplace abuse and wet waste management. 🌿
Other highlights include our sanitary pad incinerator project to promote menstrual hygiene, educational initiatives for adolescents, and celebrations like Deepotsav 2024, International Women’s Day, and National Girl Child Day—each aimed at empowering and inspiring the next generation. 🌟
Dr. Renuka Metgud presented the Annual Financial Report for the year 2023-2024, detailing expenditures over the past year. She also proposed the new budget for 2024-2025, outlining exciting opportunities for further projects and initiatives.
The AGM was further enriched by a powerful lecture from Dr. Yesh*ta Pujar on cervical cancer prevention, reminding us of all of the importance of health advocacy.
Our President, Mrs. Asha Kore ma'am, delivered an inspiring presidential address, encouraging every woman to keep pushing boundaries and creating positive change.

🌟 Comprehensive Women’s Health Screening Success! 🌟
On July 30, 2024, the KLE Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women and the KAHER Cell for Women, in collaboration with the OBG Physiotherapy Department of KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, hosted an impactful Comprehensive Screening Camp focused on “Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Women’s Health Issues”. This event took place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the RLS and Lingaraj College campuses.
Our extensive screening featured seven specialized contact stations, addressing a wide array of concerns from menarche to menopause. Services provided included:
Evaluations of height, weight, and body mass index
Assessment for PCOS, postural issues, and breast cancer self-examination
Diastasis recti assessment and core strength evaluation
Screening for pelvic floor disorders such as urinary and f***l incontinence
Addressing issues related to menstruation and menopause
Participants received personalized counseling, therapy, and expert advice, including tailored exercise protocols, pelvic floor activation exercises, ergonomic and lifestyle modifications, and referrals for further care if needed.
We are proud to share that 72 women benefited from this invaluable health initiative, gaining crucial insights and support for their well-being.

🌸 Empowering Women: A Beacon of Hope in Breast Cancer Screening 🌸
On August 1, 2024, the KAHER Cell for Women and the KLE Swashakti Cell for Women proudly hosted an impactful Breast Cancer Screening Camp at KLE Society’s Basavaprabhu Kore CBSE School, Ankali, commencing at 9:00 am. This esteemed initiative was dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer and to fostering awareness about the critical importance of self-examination—key factors in effective treatment and improved survival rates.
During this momentous event, we screened 125 women and identified four who required further medical evaluation. These individuals were swiftly referred to KLE Hospital for comprehensive consultations and confirmation.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the brilliant coordination of Dr. Renuka Metgud, Dr. Neha Dhaded, Dr. Peeyoosha Gurudut, Dr. Genita Patil, and the devoted faculty of KLE Nursing College, whose remarkable efforts ensured the success of this significant endeavor.

On June 5th, KLE Society’s Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women and KAHER Cell for Women actively participated in a World Environment Day event organized by B. V. Bellad Law College. The celebration featured a plantation drive and an informative program on wet waste management.
The event, which engaged 75 participants, was highlighted by a session led by Dr. Usharani Sanu.
This collaboration underscores our ongoing commitment to fostering environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the community.
🚑 Empowering Our Heroes on the Road! 🚍
KLE Society's Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women and NSS Unit (No.17) at KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi, recently organized a vital "First Aid" training program for our dedicated KLE bus drivers on June 26th and 27th, 2024. Held at the Nursing Foundation Lab, this training equipped 52 drivers with crucial first aid skills, covering CPR, bandaging, fracture management, and patient lifting and shifting.
Through engaging lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on re-demonstrations, our expert trainers – Dr. Ashok Kamat, Dr. Manjunath Sogalad, Mr. Laxmikant B., Mrs. Laxmi Kamat, and Preeti S. – ensured our drivers are ready to act in emergencies. This initiative highlights our commitment to community safety and practical education. 💪
🎓 Empowering Our Youth! 🌟
In June 2024, KAHER's Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women organized an impactful awareness program for students aged 16 and above, focusing on gender sensitization, drug abuse, and breast cancer screening. Distinguished speakers Dr. Priti Hajare and Dr. Shilpa Patil led engaging sessions at RLS College of Science, Lingraj PU College of Arts and Commerce, and Shri Siddharameshwar Science PU College.
We are thrilled to share that nearly 850 students participated, gaining invaluable knowledge on these critical issues. This initiative underscores KAHER's dedication to holistic education and the well-being of our community. Together, we are fostering a more informed and compassionate society. 💡💪
🌸 Successful Breast Cancer Screening Camp! 🌸
On July 12th, 2024, the KAHER Cell for Women and KLE Swashakti Cell for Women held a Breast Cancer Screening Camp at the Primary Health Centre in Kinaye, Belagavi.
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
We screened a total of 78 women, and identified one case requiring further medical attention. Early detection is crucial, as it significantly increases the chances of successful treatment.

Regular screening can reduce breast cancer mortality by up to 25%.
Women aged 40 and above should have a mammogram every 1-2 years.

KLE Society Swashakthi empowerment cell for women on this International Yog Day, encourages all, especially young minds, to learn about the benefits of yoga, practice it, and improve mental clarity, peace, and health for a fulfilling life. 🧘♂️🌿
KLE Society’s Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women organized an intensive five-day soft skills training program for non-teaching faculty members from May 6th to 14th, 2024. Approximately 200 participants reaped the benefits of this program, which was inclusively designed for both male and female members, underscoring the principle of gender equality.
The sessions were conducted by Mrs. Smita Dalvi, a distinguished visiting faculty member at KLE V.K Institute of Dental Sciences, who boasts two decades of training experience. Mrs. Dalvi has orchestrated numerous training sessions for local industries and hospitals and serves as a GRE trainer at Times Belagavi. Her exceptional training sessions were met with widespread acclaim from all participants.
The KLE Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women, in collaboration with the KAHER Cell for Women and Department of OBG Physiotherapy, KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, has organized a series of screening camps focused on pelvic floor dysfunction and women’s health issues. These camps are targeted at female employees of all age groups across the constituent colleges of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, as well as the nursing and clerical staff of KLE Dr. PK Hospital and MRC.
Initiated in November 2023, a total of four camps have been successfully conducted thus far. The screenings are structured into 8-9 contact stations, addressing a wide range of health concerns from menarche to menopause. These include assessments of height, weight, and body mass index (BMI), evaluations for PCOS, postural issues, breast cancer self-examination and screening, diastasis recti screening, core strength assessments, and screenings for pelvic floor disorders such as urinary and f***l incontinence. Additionally, problems related to menstruation and menopause are also addressed.
Following the screenings, participants receive counseling, therapy, and personalized advice. This includes individualized exercise protocols, pelvic floor activation exercises, ergonomic and lifestyle modifications, and further referrals if necessary. To date, 178 women have availed themselves of the benefits of these comprehensive screenings.
It has been a matter of great pride to witness and to be part of KLE Society's journey into an organization of global repute while at the same time retaining rural welfare as the point of focus over the past 40 years under your visionary leadership.

Today, we had honor of hearing from our esteemed Chief Coordinator of the cell, Madam Dr. Preeti Kore, as she presented the humongous work done by KLE Society's Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women at National Conference on "Fostering Innovations in Midwifery: Moving forward in Maternal and Newborn Care", organized by Department of OBG Nursing, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences, Belagavi.
Dr. Preeti has issued a heartfelt call to action, reminding us all of our collective responsibility to make a positive difference in society.
Dr Preeti’s message serves as a powerful reminder that each of us has the ability to contribute to a positive change. Whether it’s lending a helping hand to those in need, advocating for causes for women health and equality, or simply spreading kindness and compassions in our daily interactions, every action, no matter how small, has the power to make a meaningful impact.

In a significant stride towards fostering inclusivity and promoting gender equality in education, KLE Society's Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women unveiled two toilets for girls at the Government College of Teacher Education (CTE), Kakatives, Belagavi, on March 14, 2024.
With the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon, the newly established girls' toilet facility signals a departure from the status quo, where inadequate sanitation infrastructure often poses barriers to female students' access to education. Addressing the gathering at the event, Chief Co-ordinator, Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women, Dr. Preeti Kore Doddwad, underscored the importance of providing safe and hygienic facilities for girls, highlighting the role it plays in supporting their academic pursuits and overall development, and also requested the authorities maintain it well in the long run. By prioritizing girls' access to education and ensuring their comfort and safety on campus, the initiative sends a powerful message about the value of gender-inclusive policies and practices in promoting equitable societies.
The project was coordinated by Dr. Preeti Kore Doddwad, Dr. Sujata Jalli, Dr. Renu Metgud, and Dr. Neha Dhaded.
KAHER Cell for Women and KLE Society's Swashakti Empowerment cell for women celebrated National Girls Child Day on January 24, 2024. The cell has organized two programs.
1. An essay competition was organized on the topic "Importance of Girl Child Education" for 8th and 9th grade students of 10 government Kannada Medium Schools in Belagavi. A total of 210 students participated in the essay competition.
2. The cell also organized a painting competition with the theme "Empowering Girls—Empowering Nation" for the students of various constituent units of the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, Belagavi. Four entries per college were allowed. A total of 33 students participated.
The cell gave away cash prizes to 08 students worth Rs. 16,000/- to the winners of the Essay competition and 04 students Rs. 11,000/- to the winners of the Painting competition.
The KLE Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women celebrated International Women’s Day on March 7, 2024. The campaign theme for this year is “Inspire Inclusion,” which aims to promote gender equality and celebrate the achievements of women while highlighting the ongoing need for empowerment and inclusion in all aspects of society. The Swashakti cell has taken the initiative to create awareness about challenging inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help build an inclusive world. To embark on this challenge, two distinguished, inspiring women personalities were invited as our special guests for the function.
Ms. Shobha Gasti, founder of the Asuraksh*ta Mahile Mattu Makkala Abhivruddhi (AMMA Foundation), Raibag, and a Nari Shakti Puraskar Awardee by the hands of the President of India in the year 2022, The foundation works towards safeguarding the future and rights of former DEVDASIS and their children’s rights, with over 3,600 participants from 360 villages across Karnataka.
Gauri Manjrekar, founder of the Pankh India Foundation and co-founder of Pankh Handicrafts, empowers rural women and children, impacting over 4000 lives. She has been recognized with awards including "Indian Women Excellence and Leadership" in 2019 by the then Commerce and Industries Minister Shri. Suresh Prabhu and "State Award of Women Achiever" in 2023 by the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
Dr. Alka Kale, Vice-President of Swashakti Women’s Empowerment Cell presided over the function.
KLE Society's Swashakti Women Empowerment Cell for women took up the initiative of sensitizing college students to create awareness and break the gender stereotypes. A total of 15 workshops were conducted by the cell at various institutes of the KLE benefitting more than 1600 students in the year 2023.
A health check-up camp at Urban slum areas, Harijankeri Angol, Kalmeshwar Nagar, Vadgaon, Gangwadi, Shivbasav Nagar, Kali Ambrai, Matangi Colony and Renuka Nagar Khasbag was organized by KAHER cell for Women and KLE’s society Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women in association with SEVAK NGO, from 6th December 2023 to 12th December 2023. General Health check-up, gynecological examination, eye check-up, dermatological examination, Pediatric check-up, blood examination (Hb, RBS), & Breast cancer screening was performed., A total of 996 patients were benefited from these camps.
