AMRITA CELEBRATED 9TH INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA
BHUBANESWAR 21 JUNE:

The 9th edition of the International Day of Yoga was celebrated at Amrita Vidyalayam, Bhubaneswar in complete unison with the country and the globe. More than five hundred students , teachers and the non teaching staff of the school participated in the yoga practice with all enthusiasm and joy.
The celebration started with taking blessings from Amma for the occasion and a brief introduction to Yoga, one of the greatest gifts of India to the world and the theme of the year 'Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. Yoga for the welfare of all in the form of 'One World-One Family'.It emphasises the spirit of Yoga, which unites and takes everyone along.The yoga teacher of the school Mr. Ajit Rana spoke about relevance of yoga in everyday life in his brief introduction to the observation. The students and the teachers under the guidance of the yoga instructor of the school performed Suryanamaskar and various postures viz. vrikshasana, ustrasana, bhujangasana, trikonasana and savasana etc. After the practice of postures, the students also practiced pranayama, the breathing techniques. To feel the meditative and healing power of yoga, there was a brief chanting of sacred omkar for a few minutes followed by deep silence.

"It is not just a physical exercise where the person twists, turns, stretches, and breathes but is only a complex exercise linked to the betterment of the overall metabolism of the humans. By mastering the postures of yoga you can develop a healthy mind, soul, and a beautiful heart. Through the regular practice of yoga, one can develop immunity and flexibility as well. With better immunity, you can lead a better and disease-free life" said Kumari Anshika , a student of Class XII during the yoga session.
The session ended with shanti mantra, the prayer to bring joy, peace from within and deepens a sense of connection between an individual's inner consciousness and the external world.

AMRITA BHUBANESWAR CELEBRATES RATHAYATRA
Bhubaneswar 19 June : In keeping with the tradition and culture of Odisha, Amrita Vidyalayam, Bhubaneswar celebrated the pious occasion of Rath Yatra (Car Festival) of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on 19 June 2023. The true essence of the festival was highlighted for the staff members in the fresh morning after the summer vacation. The three Idols of Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and his sister Goddess Subhadra were placed in the decorated chariot by the staff of the school, under the special guidance of Principal Mrs Mousumi Pattanaik, with chants “Jagannath Swami ki Jay”, which was heard all around. As a prologue to the celebration, Madam Rashikamrita performed the elaborate ritual of sweeping with sprinkling of holy water known as Chhera Panhara. To mark the beginning of the nine-day festival, the Principal set the Rath kept in the prayer hall into motion. The teachers and the non-teaching staff members joined together to pull the chariot of the Trinity symbolizing the universal fraternity and progress. The crescendo of drums, conch shell and other instruments created the emotional moments of loving bond between the devotees and their deities. The principal as well as the teachers sang bhajans for the Lord.
The celebration ended with distribution of Prasad.
