What is empathy according to you?
Living in a society where most of the things (and people) are judged by the colors from outside, this poem will definitely make you question your perspective.
This poem gave me goosebumps when I read it for the first time. The effect is still every time I read it after so many years.. Shel Silverstein definitely has a witty and quirky style of presenting his thoughts.
What's your takeaway from this poem? Please share in the comments ❤️

Empathy requires an emotional component of really feeling what the other person is feeling. Whereas, Sympathy is just identifying someone else's feeling.
As a teacher I always taught my students to be kind, compassionate and empathetic human beings before anything else.. I always told them to treat others as they would like to be treated themselves... However, sometimes they need to be reminded about this again and again and books are super helpful tools for this..
It's very important that we think before we speak. It can be difficult to come back from the things we said, whether we meant it or not.
It's very important for us to understand what's going on in the kids' minds.

"But a big unanswered question is how children are going to remember this period and how it will affect them."
Every kid is going through a different state of emotion.. some are frustrated, irritated, isolated, scared, depressed, in denial, anxious... As parents, teachers, it's our responsibility to find out what's in their mind and how this situation has been affecting them.
Keep an eye out for them. Listen to them, support them, comfort them.
Emotions matter!!

I make art because its fun and entertaining. When I create, I feel like it clears my head. It helps me become aware of my emotions. It makes me feel calmer and more relaxed.
But I suspect if anyone else can make any sense of my art... And I don't feel there is a need to.
This Independence Day, free yourself from self-doubt and embrace self-love ♥️.
Happy Independence day🇮🇳
Kids love to create art, draw or experiment with various things. However, the inability to represent their creation in a way that resembles the vision in their head, often restricts them or frustrates them.
When they are given the freedom the go out of the boundaries without any constraints and pressure of having their creation to be recognisable at all, that's when their creativity flourishes. That's when they have real fun.
Every Mandala is a universe in itself.. And everyone's universe is unique and represents them. .
No judgements, let it flow with your breath, and you will experience magic at the end..
There are Mandalas from one of our sessions with kids of 7-12 yrs old. To hear their reflections, thoughts and the way they connected this mandala with their experiences was mind-blowing.
DM if you too want to experience this creative process.. Open for adults as well (anyone above 7 years old).

She writes-
"Though the art piece looks like it’s been created by a toddler, I can’t tell you how relaxing it was to dab those colors on a recycled piece of cardboard." .
Art should be enjoyed as a process without worrying much about the end product.
It should be all about discovery, ideas, self-expression, making mistakes and enjoyment without a notion of end result.
