Ottoman Era Green Dome of Masjid al-Nabawi, Madinah, 1900s
The current dome was built in 1818 by the orders of Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II (r. 1808 - 1839 CE). It was painted green for the first time in 1837 CE and it has been so ever since.
سلطنت عثمانیہ کے دور میں گنبد خضریٰ، مسجد النبوی، مدینہ منورہ، 1900ء۔
موجودہ گنبد کو عثمانی سلطان محمود ثانى نے 1817/18ء میں تعمیر کروایا تھا۔ اس کے بعد 1837ء میں پہلی بار اس گنبد پر سبز رنگ کروایا گیا اور اس کے بعد سے یہ ایسا ہی ہے۔
सल्तनत-ए-उस्मानिया के दौर में गुम्बद-ए-ख़ज़रा, मस्जिद अल-नबवी, मदीना अल-मुनव्वरह, 1900s
मौजूदा गुम्बद को उस्मानी सुल्तान महमूद सानी ने 1818 ई० में बनवाया था। उस के बाद 1837 ई० में पहली बार इस गुम्बद पर हरा रंग करवाया गया और तब से यह ऐसा ही है।

*The ‘Sajdah Rock’, USA*
Many of you will remember seeing in past years pictures of a rock formation resembling a person in sujood (prostration).
The ‘Sajdah Rock’ is located off the coast of the state of Oregon in the US. It apparently faces the direction of the Ka’bah.

Panoramic view of the holy city of Madina and Masjid al-Nabawi, 1297 Hijri or 1880 CE.
It was pictured during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II by an Egyptian-born photographer Muhammad Sadiq Bey in the year 1297 Hijri or 1880.
Sadiq Bey was the first person to take photographs of Makkah, Medina, and the Hajj. An Egyptian army engineer and surveyor, he was also the treasurer of the Egyptian Hajj caravan, traveling numerous times to the Hijaz.

During this month of June (June 10) in the same year (1916), Hussein bin Ali, the Sharif of Makkah declared an open revolt against the Young Turk Government of the Ottoman Empire by firing at an Ottoman barrack stationed at Makkah.

The Holy Kaaba pictured in 1887 by Al-Sayyid Abd al-Ghaffar, during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II.
Abd al-Ghaffar is credited with being the earliest Arabian photographer from Makkah and the first resident to photograph the holy city.

Sadiq Bey was the first person to take photographs of Makkah, Medina, and the Hajj. An Egyptian army engineer and surveyor, he was also the treasurer of the Egyptian Hajj caravan, traveling numerous times to the Hijaz.
Using a technique first invented in the 1850s, Sadiq Bey took his first photographs in 1861 using glass plate negatives, especially useful for large-format frames. His photographs are often signed and dated in the negative.
