Elathur Beach Close to Kozhikode

Kozhikode Beach As the flute vendor walked past the North pier at Kozhikode beach, where summer was being celebrated on Arabian Sea, I dug into years gone by. Our home at the end of Gandhi Road (then) straight from beach was overcrowded with quite a sumptuous bundle of memoirs. The road earlier known as Evans Road was renamed in 1934. Remnants of the North pier built by British for commercial purposes then was a site I used to watch (an old Google photo attached). Ships parked out in sea, traded with spices and the wood made, wind based small boats (pathemaris) brought goods and unloaded on pier from where it was rolled on steel wheeled carriages by local workers into the godowns. The pier is getting eroded like the memories of many elderly. Beaches tell stories of love affairs, succeeded and broken. The wind whispers even now, the glory of the tied hearts with handheld love birds and their stories. Beach is a very romantic place, where the horizon produce colorful skies, moon of different shapes of seasons and the Evening star that rise above. Many they say, FALL in love as the Moon RISE. The flute vendor today mesmerised my mind with an aroma of sea breeze and the scent of some at the shore and the fragrance of the frying pea nuts from vendors who make their living. Sea indicates the eternity and limitlessness of imaginative stories that hang around.
