हिमाचल प्रदेश उत्तर-पश्चिमी भारत में स्थित एक राज्य है। यह 21,629 मील² से अधिक क्षेत्र में फ़ैला हुआ है तथा उत्तर में जम्मू और कश्मीर और लद्दाख केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के पश्चिम तथा दक्षिण-पश्चिम में पंजाब, दक्षिण में हरियाणा एवं उत्तर प्रदेश, दक्षिण-पूर्व में उत्तराखण्ड तथा पूर्व में तिब्बत से घिरा हुआ है। हिमाचल प्रदेश का शाब्दिक अर्थ "बर्फ़ीले पहाड़ों का प्रांत" है। हिमाचल प्रदेश को "देव भूमि" भी कहा जाता है।

पराशर मंदिर तथा झील समुद्र तल से 9000 फुट की ऊंचाई पर है। यह स्थान मंडी से 48 किलोमीटर दूर है। पराशर झील के निकट हर वर्ष आषाढ़ की संक्रांति व भाद्रपद की कृष्णपक्ष की पंचमी को विशाल मेला लगता हैं। भाद्रपद में लगने वाला मेला पराशर ऋषि के जन्मोत्सव के रूप में मनाया जाता है।
