5 lessons from the book “ikigai”
1.The importance of finding one's purpose in life, or their "ikigai," as a key to happiness and fulfillment.
2.The value of connecting with others and building strong relationships, as this can help support and enrich one's ikigai.
3.The importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and a balanced diet, to support both physical and mental well-being.
4.The power of mindfulness and staying present in the moment, as this can help individuals focus on their ikigai and appreciate the beauty of life.
5.The need for continuous learning and growth, as this can help individuals discover and pursue their ikigai, and continue to find joy and meaning in life.
On May 23, 1984, became the to unfurl the tricolour on top of the 8,848 m-high .
This is a story we have all heard and read. But few Indians know about another trailblazing woman who conquered - .
Santosh Yadav was born in a tiny village populated by a hundred-odd people in 's Rewari district.
"I used to walk down 5 km to my school. We did not have the pucca floor. We had no mattresses to sit on, so we used to carry our gunny bags. On the way back, whenever it used to rain, we used to make a hat out of the bag!"
And then, one day, this little girl expressed a desire to study more. The father, steeped in tradition, had other ideas.
But she managed to convince him. And off Santosh went to Jaipur. Admitted to Maharani College, her hostel faced the Aravallis.
"I used to watch villagers from my room going up. But after a while, they used to disappear. One day, I decided to check it out myself.
There was nobody but a few mountaineers. I asked them if I could join. Their answer motivated me to take to climbing. I saved money and enrolled for a course at Uttarkashi's Nehru Institute of Mountaineering," she recalls.
The rest, as they say, is history. She went on to become the first woman to climb Everest twice, in 1992 and 1993, and the first woman to climb it from its Kangshung face.
I’ll keep you safe lil man 👶❤️
Amazing Fact!
Books and Classes for The Insurance Institute of India Exams.
The Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai floated an Essay writing competition for office bearers’ on the topic:
“Basing on the learning from Covid19 pandemic, how can academic bodies like I.I.I. assist insurance industry participants and support initiatives of the Government for Life & Health Insurance?”
Mr. Y V Chawla, Vice Chairman, Chandigarh Insurance Institute participated in the competition and won the third prize. (An abstract is given here)
Abstract
Covid-19 and The Role of Insurance Academics
(An Essay to show how the crisis impact can be mitigated for the mankind)
The whole population of the world may not be physically affected but there can not be a single person who has not felt the heat of the pandemic psychologically.
Role of Insurance academics like The Insurance Institute of India can not be undermined in dealing with the critical situations arising out of pandemic like Covid -19.
From data collection, analysis, training and awareness – the academics can use their tools to mitigate the complications emanating from such crisis. The areas referred in the essay are:
Change in Strategy
The Effects of Pandemic
Customer demands Digital Experience even in Complicated Financial Products
Offering Innovative Products
Changed Scenario for the Insured
Legal Issues in Claims due to Business Interruption
The importance of Non-Damage Business Interruption Coverage
Impact on Claims
Universal Health Coverage
Role of TPAs
The demand for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is gaining ground and is already under the active consideration of governments in many countries. The universal vaccination programme of the govt. of India for Covid 19 has shown a trailer towards the UHC.
UHC can entail regulated Medical Insurance funded by the government. In this scenario, no doubt insurance companies will have a sizeable role to play.
Another area is Non Damage Business Interruption losses where the Insurance Companies can frame suitable policies to cover these losses. An example as to how the non coverage of such risks by the Indian Premier League led to huge losses is cited in the essay.
In the essay, to draw home the point, I have profusely drawn from the studies and analysis conducted by various global and Indian financial and business organisations.
It is the work and analysis done by academics that goes to make insurance a viable safety cover for the general public and at the same time comes to the rescue of the Insurance Companies to make it a viable business.
