Infrastructure As a Service: In IAAS you are literally just buying hardware and nothing else, everything running on that hardware is under your hands.

Platform as a service: In this model not only is the hardware handled for you, but the databases and the middleware are provided as well. You just provide the application and data you want to be on the platform.
