.Does Spinal Disc Prolapse Need Surgery?99%பேருக்கு அறுவை சிகிச்சை தேவையில்லையா?Dr. VigneshPushparaj What is the treatment for disc prolapse? Disc prolapse is when the jelly like substance in the neck or back is pushed out. Once a person is diagnosed with disc prolapse, is surgery necessary? If not, what would be the treatment? These are the basic question in the current scenario. Once diagnosed with disc prolapse, 99% a surgery might not be needed. For the remaining 1% it is necessary. The reason why that 1% population needs surgery is that, the disc that protrudes, compresses the nerves to the hands and legs causing the work of the nerve like the movement of hands or legs, the sensitivity in the hands or legs reduces, only then a surgery is needed. So, for the remaining 99% let me tell you what needs to be done. For the 99% population, the doctor is not going to treat you to rectify the disc prolapse. Doctor's supportive treatment is more than enough. In the remaining time, our body using the self healing mechanism will diffuse the prolapsed disc. Until then patience is needed. Minimum 6 weeks to a maximum of 3 months, if the patient waits and gets treated, they can become normal Consider me for example, I had a disc prolapse in my neck. Be it my seniors or my bosses or my teachers, all over the world, I requested them to do the surgery for me. They clearly refused to do the surgery. They said, "for acute disc prolapse", "you wouldn't recommend a surgery for your patient right" "similarly, we cannot do a surgery for you." What else could I do, there was no other option. I rested well and then made some lifestyle changes. Now I am pain free. I also took an MRI and the prolapsed disc too is not seen. Therefore it is the patience. Those who wait for the 6 weeks to 3 months duration the 99 % don't need a surgery, For the remaining 1% if the hands
