Snapshot Saturday is back after a long hiatus.

This was a custom order that we thoroughly enjoyed planning and executing for Sandhya's parents. They had just bought a new sofa set and wanted sofa backrest covers, seat covers and a coordinated set for the diwan as well.

We used a combination of block printed fabric, lace and transparent burnt out fabric over a shimmer fabric to complete the look. We love how the whole look has come together and were ecstatic to receive these images from Sandhya.

One of the best ways to infuse freshness and vibrance to any space is to bring nature in or at best add elements of nature to the space, foliage, in particular.

The vibrant shades of green not only add freshness but enhance the overall ambience of a space.

What's the story behind the image?

It has been a hectic week with a lot going on at the store. Yesterday was a slightly more relaxed day nd we decided to take some pics.

We had customized the covers for the foam seating and decided to style and shoot it with our latest range of cushion covers before we handed them over to the customer. We loved how it looked and the customer who came to collect the foam seating agreed with us as well.

Sustainable living is a choice,
not an easy one by any stretch, but a choice none the less that each of us can make.

Sustainable living in it's entirety is a lifestyle that is cultivated over years and while most of us have taken baby steps towards this, we have a long way to go. Baby steps in the right direction, however, is the need of the hour and we have to beleive that our choices make a difference, however small they may be.

Personally, there are few choices I have made that I beleive contribute to saving our environment from further degradation. One such choice is to carry a cutlery pouch with my own cutlery wherever I go. This gives me the choice to use my cutlery and avoid disposables as much as possible.

What do I carry in my cutlery pouch? A fork, a spoon, a pair of chopsticks, a straw (with a cleaner)....all stainless steel and a cloth napkin.

I beleive this is a small choice that anyone can make and something that can be inculcated in children too.

A throwback post to celebrate International Tea Day.

I am an unabashed chai lover and I have great company in Mom and sis. Ironically, Dad who worked in the tea plantations for years is more of a coffee person, although when he does enjoy a cuppa, it has to be perfect. Anytime is tea time in our home and one can never have too many cups of tea. Also, the only way I like my tea is in a large cup.

I also have a pet peeve when it comes to tea....I like my tea strong and cannot stand milky tea. It's all in the colour according to me. (but that's just me)

Missing my chai breaks at home, which is also our family catch up time.

Cheers to that cuppa and all chai lovers on International Tea day . Here's looking forward to many more chai breaks at home.

When I started my instagram journey in 2017, flatlays were all the rage. I absolutely loved seeing how people layered colours, textures and patterns to evoke an emotion or convey a theme not just in home decor but with food and even stationary. If I were to be honest, it was one of my favourite visual treats on the gram.

I don't see them as much on the gram these days and I felt compelled to put this together today to share the tropical state of mind that is synonymous with summer. It may not be prefect or my best flatlay but oh boy, was it immensely satisfying to put this together and take photos rather than a video.It absolutely was.
I guess there is something to doing what you really enjoy rather than sticking to the norm.

It's been a fantastic start to the week, thanks to a whole bunch of photos that I received from Sherin , of our blue and white collection in her home.

Sherin carefully picked co-ordinated cushion covers in blue & white with different patterns and textures that she has styled beautifully in her home to bring the whole summer look together. Lovely to see our bunny rabbit runner in use as well.

With the temperature soaring....the beach is definitely where I'd rather be. Since I can't go to the beach right now, I gave the store a Summer refresh and created my own little coastal inspired space, right here.

It's almost that time of the year, when the spotlight is on 'rabbits' and we're jumping on the band wagon.

This past week, The Upper Room (the business) celebrated it's 7th anniversary. Amidst the sale going on in-store, there was not much time to celebrate. However we did receive messages èfrom our well wishers, which meant a lot.

There was one wish in particular which was extra special, which I saved to share on Snapshot Saturday

Rachel aunty, one of my earliest customers here in Coimbatore sent me pics of our products in her home with the message 'The Upper Room in my room'. It absolutely made my day and the icing on the cake was that the pic reflected The Upper Room's colours ( yellow, black and white)

Thank you Aunty for making our products a part of your beautiful home.

And a big thank you to all those that have supported and encouraged us on this 7 year journey. We couldn't have done it without you.

Hello March!

There seems to be so much, happening in this month already....part of our store is getting a fresh coat of paint, we've been working on new products that we hope to launch soon and we have our first pop-up of the year coming up this Saturday.

We've been working on a couple of products specially for kids in some fun prints (giving you a sneak peak here) and we can't wait to see the response this weekend.

Today's snapshot is from the home of a dear friend Bhagyashree, in Belgaum, who wanted to give her outdoor cane chairs a makeover by changing the cushion and seat covers which had worn out over the years.

She chose this lovely fabric and we customised the seat covers with cord piping and made reversible cushion covers to give it the fresh look that she wished for.

We love how pretty it looks in her verandah against the backdrop of the garden.

Once in a while, you get a request for a customized order that makes you think out of the box. Today we received one such.

A customer requested a bouquet made of the faux Christmas sprigs along with a kitchen towel and coasters to be sent as a birthday gift. She asked if it could be creatively wrapped and after a little trial and error this was the result.

Hello December.....'the most wonderful time of the year'

For as long as I can remember, December has been special and holds tons of wonderful memories....Memories of family and friends gathering to play games, have a laugh, share stories from the year gone by, cooking together and eating delicious food. Among all this, what stands out the most in these memories is the joy and love that was shared.

It's that time of the year again and I am eagerly looking forward to making more memories with my loved ones.

The store remained closed today but inside, it was a working Sunday as most Sunday's are during this busy season.

I've realized that the solitude and quiet makes me extra productive and I get a lot done. And today was exactly that.

A few more products will be added to the Christmas shop on our website this week, so keep watching this space.

Winding up this productive Sunday with this gorgeous view of our Tartan throws and cushions made me smile. It's been a good day.

If there is one thing, I have dreamed of since the inception of The Upper Room, it has been of designing & producing a collection for the brand.

'Tartan Tales' is the realization of that dream and that is why this collection is so special. (for those who read the caption of yesterday's reel) This collection has been a labour of love and though slightly delayed, I am so proud to present this collection on the website tomorrow.

I'd also like to thank you all for your patience and hope you will love the products as much as I enjoyed designing and bringing it to you all.

Handwoven indian (Khun) ,Scottish inspired (Tartan), and a textile craft that has evolved in different regions across the world (tapestry), all come together beautifully to create this cozy Christmassy corner at the store.

Each fabric, woven using different techniques to create unique patterns and each tailored to create cushion covers in different shapes and sizes. I love how harmonious this 'global' Christmas corner has turned out to be, despite each cushion cover being so different and not something I would normally use together.

A wider message perhaps, for each of us this season?
