Onam: Onam is the most important festival in Kerala, celebrated to honor the legendary King Mahabali and to mark the harvest season. It's a ten-day festival that usually falls in the Malayalam month of Chingam (August-September). People celebrate Onam with various cultural activities, feasting, and traditional games. The festival is marked by the creation of elaborate floral rangoli designs called "Pookkalam" and grand feasts known as "Onasadya."

Kasavu Saree: A Kasavu saree is a traditional attire of Kerala women, particularly worn during festive occasions and celebrations. It's characterized by its distinctive off-white or cream-colored fabric with a golden border called "Kasavu." The saree is woven with fine threads of cotton, and the golden border is often made of real gold or gold-colored thread. The Kasavu saree is a symbol of Kerala's cultural heritage and is considered a traditional dress that reflects the elegance and grace of the state's women.

The connection between Onam and Kasavu saree lies in their shared association with Kerala's culture and heritage. During the Onam festival, wearing the Kasavu saree is a common practice among women. The combination of the elegant saree with its golden border and the festive spirit of Onam creates a visually striking and culturally rich environment. Both the saree and the festival are integral parts of Kerala's cultural identity and are celebrated together to showcase the state's rich traditions and heritage.

In this series, we bring you light weight, trendy, heritage weaves, handcrafted by traditional weavers of Bengal. The wonderfully woven cotton Jamdani saree, is a perfect ensemble of comfort and elegance. Doyel, is less of a friend, and more of a family member. An actor by profession, Doyel is an example of how dedication & hard work can make you believe that no dream is too big. A graduate in Philosophy from Scottish Church College, and a Postgraduate in Mass Communication from Jadavpur University; Doyel started her acting journey in street theatre. With time, she worked with several theatre groups of Kolkata, and made onscreen acting debut. With continuous effort, she became a part of Bengali cinema, OTT, and Television. Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti, Kishmish (Cinema); Mandaar, Sundarbaner Vidyasagar, Gora (OTT series); and Sandhya-Taara (TV Serial) are few of her notable projects. In her words, the prolonged association with theatre group Hatibagan Sangharam, has not only helped her refine acting skills, but also made her a better human being, enhancing her understanding of life in general. Beyond work, in spare time, you’ll either find Doyel cooking different cuisine or listening/singing folk songs or spending light moments with family and friends.
