It's never too late to improve your health and manage hypertension. On World Hypertension Day, here are some cardinal points which help you to make Nutritional changes to control hypertension and keep your heart healthy:
🫀 Follow the DASH diet: The DASH diet emphasizes consuming fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy products. It is specifically designed to lower blood pressure and improve heart health.
🫀Reduce sodium intake: Limit your consumption of high-sodium foods, such as processed and packaged foods. Focus on fresh homemade meals.
🫀 Increase potassium intake: Include potassium-rich foods like bananas, coconut water, lemon, spinach, and sweet potatoes in your diet. Potassium helps counterbalance the effects of sodium on blood pressure.
🫀 Limit saturated and trans fats: Choose lean protein sources, such as skinless poultry, fish, legumes, and pulses.
Mustered oil, coconut oil, olive oil (salad dressing and shallow fry), and cow ghee in moderation are good options.
🫀 Moderate alcohol consumption: If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation.

Making changes to your food choices and lifestyle habits can be helpful in reducing headaches. Here are some of the most common causes of headaches:
✓Dehydration is a common cause of headaches, so it's essential to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
✓Processed and preserved foods, high-sugar foods, and alcohol can trigger headaches in some people, so avoiding or limiting these foods is best.
✓Choose fresh, whole foods that are nutrient-dense and rich in vitamins and minerals.
✓Stress, lack of sleep, and poor posture can contribute to headaches, so it's essential to practice stress-management techniques, get enough sleep, and maintain good posture.
If headaches persist despite making lifestyle changes, it's a good idea to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and treatment.
