Health Department team holds awareness camp on Leprosy at Sarak Marmat
DODA, JULY 04: The Health Department Doda has launched a village hot spot survey after detection of a suspected Leprosy Case in Village Sarak Marmat falling within the Medical Block Assar.
On the first Day of the campaign being conducted under National Leprosy Control Programme (NLCP), a health team from CMO Office hosted a series of awareness programmes on Leprosy at the Village Sarak, Govt Middle Schools Sarak and Labbar.
The team is slated to conduct house to house survey during the next two days.
Sr. Paramedical Supervisor, Surinder Bijayal who was part of the team, urged the participants to know in detail about the precautions to control leprosy and also threw light on NLEP. He said that highly effective treatment is available to cure leprosy. “Early detection and timely treatment and dosage are essential to eradicate leprosy,” he added.
Moreover, along with Leprosy, awareness regarding Malaria was also imparted to the general public by the visiting team.

Acting upon the directions of worthy Director FW, MCH & Immunization J&K and Asstt. Director FW, MCH & Immunization Jammu, in view of the World Population Day 2024, a quiz competition of health care workers (FMPHWs) of District Doda was held today on 04-07-2024 in the premises of Dy CMO Office Doda, held under the supervision of Dy CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar, holding the charge of CMO Doda also and DIO Doda Dr Versha Sharma.
In the quiz competition, a total of 13 participants from different medical blocks participated & out of which, 02 FMPHWs were selected for appearing in the UT level competition scheduled on 10th of July 2024 in Jammu.
Dr Om Kumar, while giving detail about the event, said that a quiz examination of FMPHWs from each medical block was held, which was conducted by the staff of Dy CMO Office Doda, in a fair and transparent manner.
Dr Kumar, also impressed upon the selectee FMPHWs to appear in UT level competition on the scheduled date with full preparation and knowledge, so as to bring larurels to the health department.
The staff who were present and conducted the examination were Mr Shiv Pal Singh (DMEIO), Ms Priyanka Manhas (VCCM), Ms Sheetal (JHI), Mr Zahid Sharief (JHI), Mr Ravinder Singh (Projectionist), Ms Shazia (DEO) and Mr Pawan Singh (CCT).

After detection of new Leprosy Case in Village Sarak Marmat, falling under Medical Block Assar, the village hot spot survey has been started in the village by the health team from CMO Office Doda.
On this occasion, on day first an awareness programme regarding Leprosy was organised at Village Sarak, Govt Middle Schools Sarak and Labbar and similarly during 2nd and 3rd day house to house survey shall be conducted and on 6th June 2024 skin examination camp shall be held at AAM Labbar.

As a part of outreach programme and under the supervision of CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar, District Health Society Doda organized a free medical check up cm awareness camp at Village Kotli area falling in Medical Block Ghat on 03-07-2024 under MMU.
The medical camp was organized with the aim to provide quality medical care and free medicines to the poor and needy people of the area besides to reach out to them at their door steps.
During the camp, the medical team headed by Dr Sanjeev Singh (MLHP/CHO) along with MMU Staff viz Mr Swami Raj (Phst), Mr Ajeet Singh (Helper) and Mr Sanjay Kumar rendered their services and screened around 80 patients who had come from different areas, and got benefited from the camp. Free medicine was also distributed among patients on the occasion.
The camp was aimed at educating the locals about various lifestyle diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes and other ailments besides to catered for the medical needs of the locals of the area.
The health department took this special initiatives of to provide better healthcare services to the people living in the farflung areas, to meet the immediate healthcare needs.

In view of the ongoing Population Mobilzation fortnight, the CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar on 01-07-2024 took a review meeting through virtual mode with all Incharges of health institutions of the District. During the meeting, the CMO stressed on the sensitization and awareness among masses at community level regarding different family planning services.
It was informed by the CMO that Population Dat celebration have been divided into two fortnight. The first fortnight is being celebrated as the Awareness & Mobilization fortnight, wherein the primary focus shall be on encouraging people to use family planning methods and informing them about the array of contraception methods available, whereas in the second fortnight, focus mainly on Population Stabilization & to provide family planning/sterilzation services to the persons who will get themselves registered in the awareness forthnight.
To make family planning facilities more accessible, the CMO Doda directed the health staff to provide consultations on various family planning methods, ensuring services are available for eligible beneficiaries.
CMO on this occasion, impressed upon all the health functionaries to mobilize ASHAs and health workers and to conduct different activities under this onoing phase.

DC Doda chairs DLCC review meeting to curb To***co use in District
DODA, JUNE 15: In order to review the detailed parameters suitable to curb the menace of to***co use, particularly focusing on to***co-free educational institutions, a District Level Coordinator Committee (DLCC) meeting was held today at the conference hall of the DC office complex Doda.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Health Society Doda. Stakeholders from various sectors, including medical health insurance, participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, several key points were discussed, such as the installation of warning boards in to***co sales areas. The Deputy Commissioner directed the formation of a flying squad to monitor to***co sales in restricted zones, emphasizing that no to***co products should be sold near schools. He also instructed the CEO Doda to review and ensure the implementation of to***co-free schools. Additionally, the formation of village-level coordination committees was proposed to work towards making villages to***co-free.
The meeting saw attendance from prominent officials including ADC Doda Sudershan Kumar, ACR Doda Sunil Bhutyal, ACD Doda Manoj Kumar, CPO Doda Manesh Kumar, ARTO Doda Rajesh Gupta, CEO Doda PL Thapa, CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar, police officers, principals of various government colleges, the medical superintendent of AH GMC Doda, BMOs, and others.
The discussion also covered the need for "No Smoking" stickers on public transport and SRTC buses, the declaration of all government premises as to***co-free zones, and the use of the ToFEI app to declare educational institutions as to***co-free. The Deputy Commissioner urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards making Doda a "Nasha Mukt" (drug-free) district.
Further, the Deputy Commissioner directed the ARTO Doda to ensure that all buses and matadors display warning posters and stickers about the dangers of to***co use. He also stressed the importance of maximizing tuberculosis testing as part of the administration’s goal to make the district TB-free. Educational institutions will receive warning notices to prevent student and minor indulgence in to***co use. The meeting concluded with a call to action for all participants to unite in efforts to achieve a to***co-free and drug-free Doda.

In an effort to tackle vector borne diseases during the summer season and to prevent its spread in the district, the health department Doda kick-started the district wide awareness campaign and released Gambusia Fishes in a fountain/pond at Old Bus Stand Doda and in Block Assar on 13-06-2024.
On the directions of DHS Jammu Dr Rakesh Magotra, State Malariologist Dr D J Raina Jammu and under the guidance of CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar, the Malaria Unit of CMO Office Doda released gambusia fishes at different locations in the district. The Malaria Officials informed that the gambusia fish which is also called as Mosquito Fish eats the mosquito larvae and helps in controlling the spread of various diseases like Dengue & Malaria. Pertinent to mention here that the health department has been organizing awareness programmes in the community since the last one month as a part of Anti Dengue Month to inform the general public about the prevention and control of various vector borne diseases.

To carry out the different activities and in order to ensure holistic development of Adolescent population under Rashtriya Kishore Swastha Karyakram (RKSK), the Block Medical Officer Thathri Dr Shafqat Javed Zargar on 08-06-2024 convened a meeting with the staff of CHC Thathri.
The meeting which was attended by Dr Bishen Singh (Consultant Orthopedic), Mr Jonson Chandail (Divisional ASHA Coordinator), BMEO NHM, Block Accounts Manager Thathri, Block Coordinator Adolescent Health and AFs held deliberations on various aspects of the scheme and discussed the different activities to be covered under the scheme for the financial year 2024-25 which includes Adolescent Health Day, Adolescent Friendly Club meeting, ASHA Incentives for mobilizing Adolescent & Community, Workshop and different Trainings covered under the programme.
The chair (BMO Thathri) passed necessary directions to all the participants and stressed upon them to work in a cordial atmosphere, so that the target fixed under the programme shall meet in a time bound manner and to implement the programme at gross root level.
The BMO also directed the Coordinator concerned and other participants to coordinate with RBSK teams for making necessary field visits to visit schools, AWCs and facilitate counselling to adolescent groups on RKSK on priority.

The Chief Medical Officer Doda Dr Om Kumar on 07-06-2024 convened a meeting of RBSK staff working in the department, to review the overall functioning of Rashtriya Bal Swastha Karyakaram (RBSK) programme in the Distrct.
The meeting was attended by District Programme Manager NHM Mr Jahangir Mehta, Programme Manager DEIC (RBSK) Mr Faizan Elahi Butt besides RBSK Medical Officers from Assar, Bhaderwah, Gandoh, Ghat and Thathri blocks.
At the outset, the DPM NHM & Manager DEIC gave a detailed PowerPoint Presentation and highlighted the targets/achievements under RBSK programmes of the previous and current year.
Addressing the meeting, the CMO stressed upon all the staff to work with utmost dedication and honesty, adding that the people have direct concern with the health department, being the most sensitive sector.
While reviewing the RBSK programme, the CMO directed all the concerned to to reach out every area for proper screening of different ailments among the childern for their timely treatment, in accordance with the necessary guidelines.
The CMO said that Doda district has adequate healthcare infrastructure to manage the universal immunization programme and surveillance activities to achieve the target. He urged upon the Health functionaries of the district to take all possible measures and give focused attention in different health programmes.
CMO Doda emphasized that RBSK is an innovative and ambitious initiative which envisages Child Health screening and Early Intervention Services, a systemic approach of early identification and link to care, support and treatment. The efficacy of the scheme shall depend upon ensuring 100% coverage of the beneficiary population in a time bound manner, through coordination with various stakeholders.
