The School of Liberal Arts at GD Goenka University celebrated Anti-Ragging Week from 12th to 14th August 2024 with a series of engaging events. Dr. Sangita Sharma, Dr. Rekha Kaushal, and Dr. M. Kamaran Ahsan oversaw the entire week. Key activities included a movie screening on 12th August organized by Dr. Juhi Srivastva, a reels-making competition on 13th August coordinated by Dr. Mansi Yadav, and a poster-making competition on the same day led by Dr. Kamna Sagar. The celebrations culminated with a skit/play enactment on 14th August, supervised by Dr. Virendra Kumar. The events were supported by a dedicated team for logistics, social media, and documentation, ensuring smooth ex*****on and comprehensive reporting.
The School of Liberal Arts is thrilled to announce that Divya Jain, a distinguished PhD scholar from GD Goenka University's School of Liberal Arts, is making history at the Paris Olympics. Under the guidance of Dr Anjali Midha Sharan, Dean of SoLA and R&D, and her PhD Guide, Ms Divya Jain - the Head of Psychological Services for the Fortis National Mental Health Program, along with Dr Samir Parikh, Chairperson of the Fortis National Mental Health Program at Fortis Hospitals, Divya will be supporting the Indian athletics team. This marks the first time the team will benefit from the expertise of a psychiatrist and sports psychologist, highlighting the crucial role of mental health in peak performance.
Divya’s expertise in sports psychology and her unwavering commitment to mental well-being will provide invaluable support to our athletes as they compete on the world stage. This landmark achievement highlights the exceptional calibre of professionals emerging from GD Goenka University and the profound impact of our academic programs.

Vartah 3.0, hosted by the School of Liberal Arts at GD Goenka University in collaboration with Fortis Hospital, was a resounding success on 12-13 July 2024, drawing over 120 school counsellors to address youth mental health and exam pressures.
The event commenced with a welcoming speech from Professor Kim Menzes, Vice Chancellor, GD Goenka University followed by Dr Amrita Bahl's (Chief Education Officer of GD Goenka Group)) talk, who shared valuable strategies for handling exam stress. The entire event happened under the leadership of Dr Anjali Midha Sharan Anjali Midha Sharan, Dean (SoLA & R&D, GD Goenka University.) A thought-provoking panel discussion led by Ms. Nishtha Narula and Dr. Mantosh Kumar delved into essential life skills, exploring the pitfalls of quick fixes in a digital age.
Dr Samir Parikh delivered a powerful keynote on the importance of empathy and social responsibility in mental health. Ms Mimansa Singh Tanwar introduced Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) as an effective method for managing stress and past trauma. Roshni Sondhi presented mindfulness techniques, such as meditation and mindful breathing, to combat exam anxiety.
Ms. Kamna Chhibber discussed the transition from pressure to performance using principles of social psychology. Additionally, Ms. Muskan and Pushpa Joshi highlighted GD Goenka University’s international programs and world-class infrastructure, reflecting the institution’s commitment to global academic exposure.
The event also featured a panel on positive parenting and a session on creative skill-building, conducted by experts who emphasized the importance of nurturing creativity and unconventional thinking in students. The event concluded with Professor (Dr.) Anjali Midha Sharan summarizing the summit’s impact and vision for the future.
A heartfelt thank you to all speakers, participants, and organizers for making this event a tremendous success, and shaping a brighter future through collaborative learning and innovative approaches.

The School of Liberal Arts organized a lecture on the ‘Gender Perspective of Language’ on 5 March 2024 to teach students a conceptual understanding of gender and patriarchy. Dr. Kamran Ahsan spoke about different modes of patriarchal subordination of women. He highlighted gender bias concerns in language that perpetuates patriarchal hegemony and subordination of women. The lecture highlighted the use of gender-neutral and gender-sensitive vocabulary.
The workshop on psychological first aid held on 23rd February 2024 was the latest milestone of the School of Liberal Arts, GD Goenka University; it was arranged by the Department of Psychology.
The conference’s primary theme was to critically examine and provide psychological first aid to people in an emergency, a technique designed to reduce the occurrence of post-traumatic stress disorders. It promotes safety, comfort, and emotional stability in those affected, emphasizing basic human connection and empathy. More than 50 people were in the workshop, including speakers, faculty members, and undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The conference started the proceedings with an invocation to the divine. The Keynote speaker, Dr Vikas Sharma, Associate professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology, SGT University, Gurugram, delivered his keynote address on the inadequate understanding of Psychological first aid. He enlightened the audience on how PFA can help you support others to establish a sense of safety and security after a trauma. The session was great and concluded with a question/answer session.

The National School Counsellor's Summit VARTAH-2.0, a collaborative effort between the School of Liberal Arts at GD Goenka University and FORTIS Healthcare, unfolded during a Winter Program on January 19th and 20th, 2024.

The Triangular Conference was hosted by the School of Liberal Arts at GD Goenka University on the 3rd of November, 2023.
It was a remarkable event that brought parents, students, and faculty members together to celebrate the school's outstanding achievements.
The conference commenced with a heartfelt prayer, setting a tone of unity and gratitude. It then featured a presentation of the university's vision and mission, followed by the school's specific goals and aspirations.
The event's highlight was the recognition of the students' exceptional accomplishments, underscoring their dedication and hard work.
Additionally, the school proudly showcased three of the eight published books, exemplifying its commitment to academic excellence and knowledge dissemination.
The Triangle Conference was an opportunity to strengthen the school-parent partnership and share the joy of its continued success.

A Tree Plantation Drive was organized by the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education and the School of Agricultural Sciences in association with the National Skill and Environment Protection Foundation (NSEPF) on 22nd September 2023 at the Agricultural farm of GD Goenka University.
Students and faculty gathered near A block at 12:20 p.m. Badges and posters, which were created using recycled materials, were distributed to start with the event, showcasing a dedication to reducing waste and conserving resources. The walkathon from A Block to the Agricultural Farm was a symbolic gesture of unity towards the cause of environmental preservation. At the Agricultural Farm, participants actively engaged in the tree-planting process. The trees were strategically placed alongside the agricultural farm, constituting a well-planned initiative centred on agroforestry and sustainability practices. This approach not only enhances the visual appeal of the farm but also indicates the conscious integration of agriculture and forestry. This hands-on experience contributed to the greening of the campus and provided valuable knowledge on sustainable horticulture practices to students. By involving students from diverse academic backgrounds, the event facilitated interdisciplinary learning and promoted a holistic approach to environmental conservation.
Dr. Rimple Manchanda, Associate Professor, School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education, was invited as a speaker during the Faculty Development Program (FDP) cm Workshop organized by Galgotias University on 18 August 2023. Dr. Manchanda spoke on "Ethical Foundations for Academic Publishing: Ensuring Integrity & Credibility.” The session commenced with Dr. Manchanda's warm welcome and introduction by the organizing committee member, Dr. Shubhalaxmi. Dr. Manchanda has been actively promoting ethical standards in academic publishing, and the attendees eagerly anticipated her expertise in the subject. The lecture concluded with an interactive session, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions from her. She was presented with a Memento by the organizing committee of the FDP and Galgotias University.
