The origin of the brick trowel, a fundamental tool in masonry for laying bricks and spreading mortar, can be traced back to ancient civilizations. Early versions of trowels were likely made from materials like wood or bone.

The modern brick trowel, with its characteristic flat, pointed blade and handle, emerged during the medieval period as stonemasons refined their craft. This tool became essential for accurately placing and leveling bricks in construction projects.

Over time, advancements in metallurgy led to the production of trowels with steel blades, which offered increased durability and precision. Today, brick trowels are typically made with hardened steel blades and ergonomic handles to withstand the rigors of masonry work while providing comfort to the user.
