We at Dr. Rao's ENT Hospitals are thrilled to kick off the new year by holding our 127th hands-on training program for ENT surgeons from all over India. This time, we put a special focus on using advanced equipment such as navigation systems and lasers in sinus and micro ear surgeries, and also provided special training for cochlear implants. It's always a pleasure to provide our attendees with the opportunity to improve their skills and deliver the best care for their patients.

SinusDoctor, Dr. Chaitanya Rao, an accomplished sinus specialist, recently held a hands-on training program for ear, nose, and throat surgeons. The aim of the program was to equip these surgeons with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out complex sinus surgeries efficiently and effectively.

Throughout the training, Dr. Chaitanya Rao provided comprehensive instruction on various techniques and procedures, including the latest developments in surgical equipment and methods. The training was practical, with the surgeons participating in simulated surgeries and working closely with Dr. Chaitanya Rao to gain a thorough understanding of the procedures.

Aside from providing instruction on surgical techniques, Dr. Chaitanya Rao also showed the surgeons the use of advanced equipment for ENT surgery, giving them the opportunity to see firsthand how these tools can enhance the precision and accuracy of their surgeries, resulting in better patient outcomes. The program was a great success, with the surgeons praising Dr. Chaitanya Rao's expertise and the invaluable information they acquired. They left the program with a deeper understanding of how to perform sinus surgeries, and how the use of advanced equipment can make a difference in their day-to-day practice. Dr. Chaitanya Rao's training program is a testament to his commitment to advancing the field of ENT surgery and improving patient outcomes.

Such training and demonstration of advanced equipment will help the ENT community to be more informed and lead to better patient care.

Sleep Apnea is a potentially grave sleep disorder in which a person’s breathing constantly starts and stops. Snoring, gasping for air while asleep, morning headache, insomnia or hypersomnia are a few of its symptoms. As long as the condition of Sleep Apnea will be left untreated, one would face complications such as -

- Mental health issues
- Leads to poor immune function
- Contribute to memory loss
- Increase your risk of heart failure

It is best to consult an ENT Specialist if such complications arise.

Enlarged Turbinate or Turbinate Hypertrophy is generally induced when the lining of the skin covering the turbinate bone turns enlarged or swollen. The nasal cavity contains four sets of turbinates namely the Supreme, Superior, Middle and Inferior. If any of these four turbinates become enlarged, then breathing gets tough.

The symptoms of Enlarged Turbinates can briefly be outlined as -

Troubled breathing
Constant nasal congestion
Stuffy nose
Nasal blockage
Loud breathing
Breathing through the mouth
Heightened nasal drainage
Noisy snoring
Nosebleeds
Repeated sinus infection
Dry mouth
Change in sense of smell
Mild facial pain
Forehead pressure

Seek a thorough consultation from an ENT specialist to improve your health.

Nasal hair keeps harmful debris and dust out of our lungs and helps maintain moisture in our airways. For people with allergies and asthma, nasal hair is especially important as it prevents allergens such as pollen from entering into our system. In most cases, trimming nasal hair is safe if done carefully and without overdoing it. If not done right, nasal hair removal comes with the following risks -
1. Damage to nasal passage
2. Dryness and damage to mucous membranes
3. Increased risk of infection
4. Rupture of nasal blood vessels if tweezers are used improperly

Keep yourself hydrated and fend off sickness with home remedies. If you’re currently experiencing sinus congestion, drinking a hot cup of tea warms you up and relaxes you. At the same time, warmth also helps break up congestion and painful symptoms associated with a sinus infection.

If you want to seek the advice of a specialist for a chronic sinus infection, take note of the following questions that your doctor might ask. When did your symptoms begin? Do you experience continuous or occasional symptoms? What is the severity of your symptoms? Is there anything that helps improve your symptoms? Sinus headaches often occur due to a sinus infection. A person may feel sinus pain in their cheeks, the bridge of the nose, the area above the nose, or the crown of the head. The pain may occur on both sides, or just one side, depending on the cause. Treatment depends on the cause, but people can usually manage sinus headaches at home using over-the-counter medications, prescription treatments, or medical intervention from a specialist.

70% of sinus cases are mismanaged, which can lead to more complications. Although uncomfortable and painful, sinusitis often goes away without medical intervention. However, if symptoms are severe and persistent, a person should consult their doctor.

Can being outside in nature make a sinus infection worse? Barometric shifts have been known to cause nasal tissues to swell. This leads to the spongy area in the nose expanding and equalizing pressure with the environment. As a result, sinus drainage gets blocked and could increase your risk for sinusitis.

Drinking a lot of clear fluids can help your body stay hydrated if you’re dealing with a sinus infection. Water, warm water with lemon, honey, ginger, herbal teas, and hot broths are your best options.

Sinus infections start to improve by themselves in about ten days. If your symptoms last longer and you don’t see any signs of improvement, a doctor may need to treat the underlying cause of the infection.

Though rare, an infection can cause more severe damage if left untreated. For instance, a sinus infection can spread to the brain or go into the eye socket and cause vision loss.

Pollen is a common allergen that leads to the production of histamines when allergic people are exposed to it. IN the nose, this can result in the swelling of the inner nasal layer, causing pain and a host of cold-like symptoms due to excessive mucus production.

It can be tricky to distinguish between a sinus infection or allergies as both conditions can have the same symptoms. To ensure accurate diagnosis, be sure to consult a trusted specialist. https://buff.ly/3B8iQuA

When exercising with sinusitis, remember to avoid any activities where you might have to lower your head. You want to minimize the pressure on your sinus cavities, which means your best options are taking a brisk walk or a light bike ride.

When the sinuses are blocked with discharge, bacteria may start to grow. This leads to a sinus infection or sinusitis.

If your child develops a fever 5–7 days after cold symptoms begin, they could be suffering from sinusitis, so be sure to pay attention to common sinusitis symptoms such as stuffy nose, thick, colored drainage from the nose, drainage down the back of the throat, headache, coughing, pain or soreness over sinuses.

The old, go-to remedy of sipping soup when you have a cold has withstood the test of time for a reason–because it works. The hot broth helps open up your sinuses and promotes a better flow of mucus. The additional fluid helps with hydration as well.

Typically, sinus infections last from 10 days to 8 weeks. In some cases, a sinus infection can become chronic and go on and off for months. In such cases, stuffy noses and facial pain may be accompanied by fever, fatigue, and hoarseness.

The first step towards managing a sinus infection–whether acute or chronic–is to get an accurate diagnosis. Schedule a consultation with us today.

Common infections of the upper respiratory tract can quickly spread to your sinuses. The resulting inflammation and pain that accompanies it are called sinusitis.

Suppose you have allergies, smoke, have a weakened immune system, suffer from a deviated septum, have a dental infection, or spend a lot of time in areas where germs are likely to be present. In these cases, you are at higher risk for sinusitis.

Our sinuses are a complex system, and they’re essential for your health and comfort. For most of us, the only time we become aware of our sinuses is when they start acting up. If our sinuses aren’t working correctly—when they get inflamed, swollen, uncomfortable, or produce an abnormal discharge—and the symptoms don’t go away on their own quickly, it might be time to see a specialist.

Allergic sinusitis, more common among children, is a reaction to exposure to inhalants that irritate your sinuses, such as dust, smoke, animal dander, and pollen. While people aren't born with allergies, they tend to develop symptoms if they are often exposed to the allergens, leading to acute or chronic sinusitis.

Timeline photos 07/03/2022

Facial pain is a common symptom of sinusitis. This is because sinuses are air-filled pockets in your facial bone located in your forehead, behind your eyes, the bridge of your nose, and the apples of your cheeks. When it gets blocked, it can cause the sinuses to ache, and you end up feeling dull pressure on your face.

Even though not all sinus infections will require treatment, getting an accurate early diagnosis and, if necessary, medical intervention and treatment is essential to prevent further complications. If you suspect that you could be suffering from a sinus infection, take our SNOT22 Survey to see if you need to proceed to a specialist.

How a Sinus Infection Is Diagnosed 05/03/2022

We often emphasize the importance of getting an accurate diagnosis to avoid complications of your symptoms, but how exactly does a sinus infection get diagnosed? Here’s a comprehensive article to help you understand how specialists go about getting an accurate diagnosis.

How a Sinus Infection Is Diagnosed Your healthcare provider will first make a diagnosis of a sinus infection based on your symptoms. If the problem becomes chronic, imaging and tests will be done.

Steam therapy can help open your nasal passages and relieve sinus pressure. It's one of the most accessible ways people can manage uncomfortable sinus symptoms and quickly be done at home.

Using traditional home remedies alongside reliable medication under the supervision of a trusted specialist can be especially beneficial for patients. Pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen help relieve facial pain and headaches. Mucolytics help thin mucus improve drainage, and over-the-counter cold or flu medications help manage general symptoms.

Be sure to consult your doctor before taking any medication and follow instructions closely.
