HMV Participated in IIC Regional Meet at Chandigarh
One day Institution Innovation Council (IIC) Regional Meet was
organized by Punjabi University, Chandigarh. Under the able guidance of
Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, members of IIC HMV participated
enthusiastically in this meet. The members were Dr. Jitender Kumar, Dr.
Shailender, Dr. Minakshi Duggal Mehta and Dr. Jaspreet Kaur. The meet
started with registration and campaign for innovation and start up. This was
followed by open house events like demonstration of Yukti innovation/start
up, display of IIC posters, Kartvyabodh platform, interactive sessions and
Udhami Bazaar (entrepreneur Market). Dr. Jatinder Kumar presented the
start ups innovation under Kartvyabodh platform. He attended the
interactive session on the working of paper recycling process and its
product. It was highly appreciated by the young innovators present in the
meet. Under Udhami Bazaar platform, team HMV displayed the products
under the name “Creative Den”. These products were organized under 3
categories i.e. Track I (Innovation Round Table Discussion), Track II
(Knowledge Sharing session by IIC Institutions) and Track III (Orientation
Session for Yukti Innovation Challenge and one to one mentoring cum
pitching session). Dr. Jitender Kumar presented a start up in bioengymes
under Track III in Auditorium of Zoology department of the university.
Participants from various universities, technical institutions, etc. were
present. All the participants were given certificates too. Principal Prof. Dr.
(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen congratulated Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dean Innovation and
Research and IIC members Dr. Rakhi Mehta, Ms. Harpreet, Mrs. Navneeta,
Dr. Minakshi, Mrs. Lovleen, Mr. Ashish, Dr. Jaspreet, Dr. Simmi, Ms. Sonia
Mahindru and Mr. Vidhu Vohra.

An Online workshop “Entrepreneurship in Herbal Products”
PG Department of Botany organized One Day National Workshop on “Entrepreneurship in Herbal Products” under DD Pant Botanical Society. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen stressed upon the need of getting the knowledge about herbal products, their production and empowering the women by setting up small set ups by utilizing the knowledge based on these herbal products. During COVID-19 people are looking on ayurveda for boosting immunity which is based on this traditional knowledge of plants & plant based products. She congratulated the department for organizing such a successful event.
The Resource Person Dr. Anjana Bhatia, innovation ambassador discussed about the role of basic plant sciences for being successful entrepreneur of herbal products. Demand for plants based cosmetics, medicines & other health care products have been increasing exponentially as they are non-toxic, have less side effects and easily available at affordable prices. India is one of the top 12 mega biodiversity centres of world which supplies major raw material of herbal products all over the world. So by having knowledge about plants you can be a successful entrepreneur as well as organic producer of such herbal products.
More than 700 students’ teachers, researchers from various institutes registered for the workshop. Dr. Nitika Kapoor gave vote of thanks. Dr. Shaveta, Mrs. Ramandeep, Ms. Harpreet Kaur & Dr. Shuchi from Botany Department were also present.

An Awareness Program on Incubation Support
Under the aegis of IIC, Dr Anjana Bhatia, innovation ambassador of the college organized a seminar on Entrepreneurship Development. She herself was the resource person. She informed about AIM and said that Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. AIM’s objective is to develop new programmes and policies for fostering innovation in different sectors of the economy, provide platform and collaboration opportunities for different stakeholders, create awareness and create an umbrella structure to oversee innovation ecosystem of the country. An Awareness Program on Entrepreneurship Development by Dr. Anjana Bhatia
Under the aegis of IIC, Dr Anjana Bhatia, innovation ambassador of the college organized a seminar on Entrepreneurship Development. She herself was the resource person. She deliberated upon the topic and said that Entrepreneurship development is the means of enhancing the knowledge and skill of entrepreneurs through several classroom coaching and programs, and training. The main point of the development process is to strengthen and increase the number of entrepreneurs.
This entrepreneur development process helps new firms or ventures get better in achieving their goals, improve business and the nation’s economy. Another essential factor of this process is to improve the capacity to manage, develop, and build a business enterprise keeping in mind the risks related to it.
In simple words, the entrepreneurship development process is about supporting entrepreneurs to advance their skills with the help of training and coaching classes. It encourages them to make better judgments and take a sensible decision for all business activities

An Awareness Program on IPR and Technology Transfer by Dr. Anjana Bhatia
Under the aegis of IIC, Dr Anjana Bhatia, innovation ambassador of the college organized a seminar on IPR and Technology Transfer. She herself was the resource person. She deliberated upon the topic and said that Intellectual property (IP) is an important instrument at the research and development level. It helps assure the ownership over intellectual findings and the capacity to control the use of IP in line with an institution's mission and core values. Technology transfer (TT) is a collaborative process that allows scientific findings, knowledge and intellectual property to flow from creators, such as universities and research institutions, to public and private users. Its goal is to transform inventions and scientific outcomes into new products and services that benefit society. Technology transfer is closely related to knowledge transfer. Principal Dr Ajay Sareen congratulated the IIC of HMV for the extraordinary achievements.

An Awareness Program on Design Thinking and Innovation by Dr. Anjana Bhatia
Under the aegis of IIC, Dr Anjana Bhatia, innovation ambassador of the college organized a seminar on Design Thinking and Innovation. She herself was the resource person. She deliberated upon the topic and said that Design Thinking refers to the cognitive, strategic, and practical processes by which design concepts (proposals for new products, services, machines, etc.) are developed. It starts with real empathy — putting yourself in your customer’s shoes to understand problems and uncover new and unexpected solutions. She made the students aware about the concept of empathy in design thinking. Principal Dr Ajay Sareen congratulated the IIC of HMV for the extraordinary achievements.

Smart India Hackathon organized at HMV

Institution Innovation Council of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar is known for innovations. Under the able guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen, students participated in SMART India Hackathon-2022 which was organized to enhance the innovation streak among potential innovators and promising scientists and to further establish the idea-sharing, effective collaboration and creativeness driven by enthusiasm towards a shared goal. Smart India Hackathon-2022 is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving. Talented youngsters from HMV offered out-of-the-box solutions to various problems like water pollution, reinventing Indian culture, e-commerce, various helping aids for persons with disabilities and mental problems, energy conservation etc. A number of students from various streams participated in the hackathon. Ideas of teams WeEvolve, WaterPhi, My Digi Yatra, Dharma Chanters, Alert Tech were specially appreciated. The role of jury was played by Mrs. Navneeta, Dr. Minakshi Duggal Mehta, Mr. Ashish Chadha and Mr. Rishabh Dhir. Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Incharge Innoovation Council remarked that the theme of this hackathon was “No problem is too big... No idea is too small”. She further said that this idea hackathon was organized to provide solutions to various Problem statements submitted by Central & State Ministries, Departments, PSUs, Industries & NGOs etc on the Smart India Hackathon portal. Gauri Jindal, Diksha, Mehak Bhatia, Deepali, Harsh*ta, Palak Rana, Sehajdeep, Palak, Jasleen, Manpreet, Muskan, Massarat, Aksriti, Navreen, Khusboo were chosen for idea submission. Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen congratulated the participants and said that such endeavours stimulate the innovative minds and help build a more creative society and nation.
