Menstrual hygiene and health is an area that needs a lot of work to be done with in Jharkhand.we celebrated our women and their health with a discussion and dialogue on menstrual health in Kedo,East Singhbhum( Jharkhand).
It also marked the beginning of an effort to try and shift to bio degradable and reusable fabric pads for our women.A big thank you to and for this wonderful collaboration and gifting our women with these cloth pads. Each pad was beautifully packed in a cloth pouch and can be reused for upto 70 times after washing. The women and girls were full of questions and were eager to use the gifts

Another significant and major portion of youth led events constitutes the Protsahan Parv, a celebratory learning festival that is centred towards community building and marginalised sections of children from slums and bastis. For a span of 4 days, PFC volunteers and Tata Steel youth members host for these children, from underserved sections, learning oriented fun engagements like Music, dance, canvas painting, art and craft, map activity, drawing and even science experiments for their wholesome personality development. These children don't have access or the financial dependency to afford even basic schooling.
This year in the 2nd week of Marc itself, collaborating with TSRDS, People for Change yet again, conducted the Protsahan Parv in full force and the volunteers engaged in utmost vigour, at 4 bastis namely : Parvati Ghat, Baldev Basti, Subarnarekha Sandhaan Ghat and Kankhajura Basti. Amidst the light, pomp and show of the city, a world within a world resides in the heart of Jamshedpur.
Mark your calendars. Remember the date. *4th June, 6 PM*

🏳🌈Happy Pride month!🏳🌈
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
With 11 years of working history with youth, women, adolescents and children, a very important aspect of our work concentrates the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.
Today as we begin with our pride month, we'd like you to know about JQC, an open ended platform facilitating a space for young q***r people and allies to come together and discuss and dialogue more around the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.
PFC has also, time and again, collaborated and supported transgender and q***r communities in Jamshedpur in more ways than one. One amongst these, is the recent ration kit distribution that took place with the help of our PFC on field volunteer (tag Naveen bhaiya). Apart from these they were provided medicines and monthly rent as well.
For the upcoming month of rich history, glory, stories and more, we will celebrate in full spirit our people who have always been more than welcomed by the organisation. Happy Pride Month people as JQC and PFC vow to keep taking steps further towards egalitarianism and increased inclusiveness. One step at a time.✨🏳️🌈
To make things more fun for you people, we'd like to bring to you a fun engaging quiz being hosted by our very own Quiz masters from Ashoka and from BIT Mesra. Jamshedpur Cares and People for Change hereby introduces you to our principal work : The Fundraising Campaign for the Migrant and Daily wage Workers. https://milaap.org/fundraisers/support-migrant-workers-and-labourers
Migrant Workers, Labourers and Street Vendors are facing loss of livelihood and hunger in Jharkhand, India. The 2nd Wave of Covid-19 has hit India with an unprecedented force. Within the country itself, the virus has brutally exploited the inequalities of society. Migrant manual labour, daily-wage workers and small roadside vendors have been among the hardest hit. Since the imposition of lockdowns, their means of sustenance have been taken away and many have struggled to provide for themselves and their families. In the state of Jharkhand, which is a major provider of cheap manual labour across the country, workers have had to walk back hundreds of kilometers to get back home. In the lockdown they have been unable to get jobs and most of them have no savings (some even live in perpetual debt). The desperation has led to many of them becoming homeless and/or having to resort to begging.
People for Change, a Jamshedpur (town in Jharkhand) based NGO is trying to provide them with sustenance ration kits to help them get through this tough time. Last year during the first wave of the virus, People for Change had helped out nearly 2,500 families. This time the hope is to reach and support 3,000 families.
One kit includes: Rice, Dal, Soyabean, Cooking Oil, Sugar, Tea leaves, Masala, Salt, Washing and Bathing soap.
Each kit costs ₹1000 or $13.65. This feeds a family of four for 2weeks.

The onset of the cyclone Yaas could have become the final strike which would have broken the backbone of the downtrodden in Tetla village in the Potka block on the outskirts of Jamshedpur. More than 40 houses had been razed to the ground forcing more than 200 people to take refuge in the Panchayat Bhawan.
Left homeless overnight and without supplies, these people turned to People for Change and we responded to their distress call instantly by dispatching 200 kgs of rice, 15 Kgs of Dal, 10l oil, 40 Kg Chura, 15 Kg Gur, 35 Kg muri, 20 Kgs potatoes, 10 Kgs onions, 3 kg soyabean, 55+ l milk, masala and 40 pieces of soap to Panchayat Bhawan.
Since the last 3 days, continuous and rigorous support is being ensured for our people who often are left to starve as they remain stranded amidst the cacophony post a calamity affects their lives in more ways than one. An extremely warm and heartfelt gratitude to two of our most prolific frontline warriors: Naveen Kumar and Bobby Mahato, lovingly called Bobby Di. Bobby Di is an influential woman community leader from Jamshedpur who also has been the recipient of Kutchina Kritika Award and a finalist CII’s Woman Exemplar award. Naveen is a B. Com graduate and a dedicated farmer who has been working with PFC for quite some time now. The two of them have been our relentlessly working professionals on-ground and on-field.
Volunteer to bring positive change in communities.
Ever since the inception on May 15, 2010, it has been 11 years since People for Change has been relentlessly working for the people of Jamshedpur time and again. Be it our previous engaging group projects like Nayi Raahein, Entrepreneurship Development Program and Comics for Change with schools all across the city or the celebratory learning festivals with kids from marginalized left aloof slums and bastis. Be it our food distribution drives like Food for Life for children, Harmony Utsav and Samjho Toh Express for creating safe spaces for dialoguing or even the much-acclaimed School on Wheels initiative for developing education interests amongst underserved children, PFC has spread its reach far and wide within and beyond the dimensions of Jamshedpur and accessed recognition as a striving youth venture. But the constant being, that PFC remembered our city and continued service tirelessly, never forgetting our people and their contributions in making Jamshedpur what it is today. Jamshedpur Cares, hence, is an ideology. An initiative to showcase our work that has established and will continue to establish linkage with the work we do for our people and for our city. Afterall, a journey from “self to society” should reflect and be visible to Jamshedpur and its netizens. To show that we care. To show that Jamshedpur cares.
We are looking for volunteers who can create more visibility towards this thought in more ways than one. Our call shall be coming in a week’s time. Stay tuned as we also come up, in no time from now, with updates on our work towards progressive societal development in our city.
At the helm of People For Change and Jamshedpur Cares, the founder, is Mr. Souvik Saha, a development professional with over 10 years of experience working with children and youth on creating spaces within school structures and communities to nurture and empower them with critical skills to enable refl-action (reflection and action) and establish personal and social transformation.
He is passionate about accessibility of quality education for all children and creating space for young people in decision making spaces. He has experience in instructional design, facilitation and evaluation with a keen interest in designing spaces that facilitate self to society journeys.
He has a colourful personality and his hobbies include reading, listening to music and watching Tiktok!
Under his leadership since 2010, People For Change has directly worked with over 25,000 children, 7,000 young people and 2,000 teachers and Principals. His latest venture, Jamshedpur Cares, aims to assemble all the young people who love Jamshedpur, because the city needs you in this critical time.
The core team of Jamshedpur Cares is working relentlessly to mobilize projects to reach out to migrant workers and transgenders in Jharkhand who are at the verge of starvation in these testing times, because Jamshedpur Cares, for all.
People For Change is a registered Non-Governmental Organization working with children ,adolescents and youth to empower them with critical life skills to enable deep self reflection and action thus establishing personal and social transformation. Since 2010 People for Change has worked directly with over 25000 children,7000 young people ,2000 teachers and principals. It facilitates non judgemental spaces for children and young people where they express themselves freely, reflect on issues that bother them and collaborate on citizen action projects.
The volunteers at People For Change have been working tirelessly ever since the onset of the pandemic, running a Plasma Call Centre with the help of the District Government, responding to more than 500 calls daily, helping transgenders, lactating mothers, migrants and small vendors with ration kits and medicine supplies, and working on-ground to ensure that oxygen cylinders reach the patients in need.
Jamshedpur Cares is a People For Change initiative in response to COVID-19 with the aim bringing together passionate young people with a deep desire to engage in actions to change status quo.It is an open platform primarily engaged in working for relief and recovery during and post covid. It strives to solve current issues of accessibility to information and resources that the most marginalized sections of society are facing, and helping them return to the “new normal” and to more resilient communities.
It is an open platform to assemble all people who love Jamshedpur and would want to lend a helping hand in these testing times. They can discuss freely, initiate action and become the change they wish to see in society.
The volunteers are presently working on projects to provide monthly ration kits to more than 2,000 families on the verge of starvation, supplying PPE kits and Oxygen concentrators.
However, this is just the start to a long campaign, and we are looking for more enterprising volunteers to support our cause.
This is a call for action in these critical times, and we need all hands on deck to battle the challenges at hand!
