On February 8, 2024, at 12:00 PM, the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at the Psychiatry Department of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital, Assam, was virtually inaugurated by the Hon'ble Union Minister, Dr. Virendra Kumar, MSJE. While the event witnessed the esteemed presence of key dignitaries from the district, including:

- District Commissioner, Shri Pulak Mahanta
- Superintendent of Police, Mohan Lal Meena
- Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. Sashidhar Phukan
- Superintendent, JMCH, Dr. Manab Gohain
- Principal Incharge, JMCH, Rituparna Phukan Ray
- HoD, Psychiatry Department, and In-Charge of ATF, Dr. Kamala Deka

The successful ex*****on of the event was attributed to the dedicated support and coordination from the hospital's staff and officials. The Hospital Authority actively contributed personnel for technical, social media, and working support. The event garnered media attention with the presence of journalists from TV, radio, and print. Additionally, the participation of doctors, nurses, staff, and students from the college further enriched the occasion.

Only one patient will require plastic surgery intervention at a later date. All other patients are doing well. We thank the Hon'ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare,Shri Keshab Mahanta, District Commissioner, Shri Pulak Mahanta, Department of Medical Education and Research for their support.

Mr. Kunal Agarwal, young social worker and S/o Renowned Industrialist & Socialist Dilip Agarwal handed over 200 Lab coats and 75 PPE kits to The Respected Superintendent of JMCH on 13.12.2023.

Inaugural ceremony of 34th Annual Conference of Assam State Chapter Association of Surgeons of India held on 13th October 2023 at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital. 'Aarogya', a free Health Camp & Awareness program on JE & other vector-borne diseases was organized at Lohpohia Tea Estate by the Social Service Society (সহায়), JMCSA under the guidance of our incharge faculty of Social Service and Humanities Society Dr.Purnima Barua Ma'am. With the help of around 2 PGTs, 1 intern and around 45 students of JMCH, interactive sessions were held, followed by a Street play and pamphlets distribution. Over 200+ Beneficiaries were benefitted under the free Health Camp organised.

In the Mid term CME Indian Academy of Pediatrics Assam State Branch held on July 1st- 2nd at Nagaon, Post graduate students of Department of Pediatrics JMCH bagged the 1st , 2nd and 3rd prizes in the Poster competition.

NEURON 2.0, a quizzing eve was organized by the Psychiatry Department, JMCH in association with the Literary Society of JMCSA on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking dated 26th Jun, 23.

Also a bulletin board showing awareness on Drug abuse was displayed in the OPD and leaflets were distributed among the patients and the attendants by the students under the guidance of the Department of Psychiatry in association with Social Service and Humanities Society, JMCSA.

To uphold the positive response towards vitiligo patients, amassing ongoing awareness of the disease as well as the medical research spearheading its treatment, World Vitiligo Day was observed in JMCH Campus on 24th Jun, 2023.

In a world where stress and mental fatigue have become commonplace, the practice of yoga provides solace, clarity, and emotional resilience.
Today on 9th International Yoga Day, Jorhat Medical College observed a yoga session headed by Coordinator Prof. Dr. Geeta Baruah ma'am. It was organised in the faculty centre at 6 in the morning, which was joined by respected Dr. Kamala Deka ma'am, Dr. Narendra Ganguly sir, other respected faculties and students.
Under the guidance of instructor Smt. Parismita Bordoloi ma'am, Yoga teacher, participants learned various asanas and discovered that yoga is more than just sitting, it's like a refreshing mental reboot.

Marking the 54th death anniversary of the legendary cultural and literary icon, Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Rabha divas was observed at JMCH, in lecture hall 3, anchored by Nabajit Kalita and Madhulika Nath.
The event was graced by the presence of respected Principal Dr. Ratna Kanta Talukdar sir, Superintendent Dr. Purnima Barua ma'am, Vice Principal Dr. P Biswanath sir and other respected faculties. The event began with ceremonial lighting of lamp followed by an enlightening speech by our Principal sir.
The crowd grooved to some phenomenal performances by our students, teachers and nursing staff on medleys of rabha sangeets and poetries. The day was a memorable and auspicious one.

On 13th June, Deputy Commissioner, Jorhat, Superintendent of Police, Jorhat, Joint Director of Health Services jorhat along with JMCH Principal and Superintendent visited the dept of psychiatry and interacted with the patients admitted for drug deaddicition and participated in the Counseling. Further, space for Psychiatric rehabliation unit cm day care centre has been promised by the administration.
Dept of Psychiatry, Jmch is grateful for the support extended by the administration.

5th June 2023 Celebrating World Environment Day: An awareness to *" Plastic Pollution"*

Our college celebrated World Environment Day to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage individuals and communities to take action for a sustainable future.As the theme this year was "Beat Plastic Pollution", awareness was about the environmental impact of plastic and promote sustainable practices.
A series of engaging activities were organized, starting with the *Walkathon* , It started at 6 am in the morning from Jorhat Medical College Campus to Gitarthi Point and back, which was joined by Respected Superintendent Dr Purnima Barua Ma'am, other faculties, students,Nurses and staff of Jmch.
One of the highlights of the environment day celebration was a *tree plantation drive* . The students, faculty members and staff members had actively participated in planting saplings in and around the college campus,contributing to the greening of our surroundings.

To encourage creativity and foster a spirit of innovation,the college organized *poster making competition on 4th June* that centered around plastic pollution.the competition also aimed to inspire action and encourage adoption of sustainable development.Most of the pictures depicted innovative solutions ,such as promoting recycling and reducing waste.

The celebration of World Environment Day exemplified the institution dedication to environmental conservation and sustainability.

*Paving out way for Ambulance Entrance via Duboribon Path*
Considering the bottleneck of traffic jam causing due to on-going work of the fly-over in front of main entrance of JMCH, Jorhat, a joint survey was carried out by officers and staff of the Jorhat District Administration; the PW Roads Dept, Jorhat and the authorities of Jorhat Medical College & Hospital, Jorhat on 07.06.2023 and decision has been taken for paving out way for entrance of Ambulances and patients to and fro Duboriban Path (by the side of Basketball Court) by breaking the boundary wall behind the present dilapidated Old TB Hospital.

The construction of the work of paving out the road will be concrete one though purely temporary in nature till completion of the fly-over work and restoration of normal traffic in front of the main entrance gate.
The officers of the PW(Roads), Jorhat and the Contractor present on site during the joint survey have ensured the authorities of JMCH, Jorhat for er****on of Iron Gate with Guarded Post while planning the construction of the proposed road which will be used for Ambulances / patients only. The work started from morning of 08.06.2023.

World Schizophrenia Day was observed today i.e 24th May in JMCH by department of Psychiatry. The Public was made aware of misconceptions prevailing in the society relating to Schizophrenia and highlighted the *" Power of community kindness"* through a street play performed by the MBBS students and through the distribution of Pamphlets. Art works made by the patients of Psychiatry were also displayed in the OPD.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the Maheshwari Yuva Sangathan for donating these ten numbers of wall mounted fans for the use by the attendants whose patients are admitted in the ICU.

Art therapy and Mental Health workshop was organized by Members of Art Hub in collaboration with day care center of Department of Psychiatry on 4th May, 2023.

Indoor patients of Department of Psychiatry were guided to create various works of Art like Pot Painting, Canvas painting, finger painting etc .
Faculty members, Students and patients participated actively and the workshop was followed by a light refreshment.
