What type of an employee are you?

Ezra and Thomas joined a company together a few months after their graduation from university.

After a few years of work, their Manager promoted Ezra to a position of Senior Sales Manager, but Thomas remained in his entry level Junior Sales Officer position. Thomas developed a sense of jealousy and disgruntlement, but continued working anyway.

One day Thomas felt that he could not work with Ezra anymore. He wrote his resignation letter, but before he submitted it to the Manager, he complained that Management did not value hard working staff, but only promoted only the favoured!

The Manager knew that Ezra worked very hard for the years he had spent at the company; even harder than Thomas and therefore he deserved the promotion. So in order to help Thomas to realize this, the Manager gave Thomas a task.

“Go and find out if anyone is selling water melons in town?”

Thomas returned and said, "yes there is someone!"

The Manager asked, "how much per kg?" Thomas drove back to town to ask and then returned to inform the Manager; "they are K13.50 per kg!"

The Manager told Thomas, "I will give Ezra the same task that I gave you. Please pay close attention to his response!"

So the Manager said to Ezra, in the presence of Thomas; “Go and find out if anyone is selling water melons in town?”

Ezra went to find out and on his return he said:
"Manager, there is only one person selling water melons in the whole town. The cost is K49.00 each water melon and K32,50 for a half melon. He sells them at K13.50 per kg when sliced. He has in his stock 93 melons, each one weighing about 7kg. He has a farm and can supply us with melons for the next 4 months at a rate of 102 melons per day at K27.00 per melon; this includes delivery.
The melons appear fresh and red with good quality, and they taste better than the ones we sold last year.
He has his own slicing machine and is willing to slice for us free of charge.
We need to strike a deal with him before 10am tomorrow and we will be sure of beating last year's profits in melons by K223, 000.00. This will contribute positively to our overall performance as it will add a minimum of 3.78% to our current overall sales target.
I have put this information down in writing and is available on spreadsheet. Please let me know if you need it as I can send it to you in fifteen minutes."

Thomas was very impressed and realized the difference between himself and Ezra. He decided not to resign but to learn from Ezra.

As we begin this fresh year, let this story help us keep in mind the importance of going an extra mile in all our endeavors.

You won't be rewarded for doing what you're meant to do, you only get a salary for that! You're only ​rewarded​ for going an extra mile; performing beyond expectations.

To be successful in life you must be observant, proactive and willing to do more, think more, have a more holistic perspective and go beyond the call of duty.

SDE Transformational Training

A 4-day training program for the Batch-3 SDEs was conducted at Maria Rani Center, located at Thiruvananthapuram from 16th -19th Nov 2017.

Launch of Prayaana!, a unique employability entrepreneurship and innovation program for women on 4th Oct 2017 at Infopark, Kochi.

The event was Inaugurated by Mr. Hrishikesh Nair, CEO, Infopark and presided by Mr. Sunil Balakrishnan, Global Head-Delivery Centre Operations, UST Global.

The event included a Panel Discussion on Women in Technology- Prospects and Challenges as well.

HTDO

Mathews, a hotshot sales manager, on a Sunday evening, was in the parking lot of a shopping mall. The parking lot was packed. Cars were crawling with anxious drivers looking for that one vacant slot. Mathews, sharp and aggressive as he was known to be, spotted a vacant space ahead and quickly zoomed in. He could see another car trying to reverse into the same slot, but Mathews was determined to beat the other man to it. And he did! Mathews felt jubilant - as we all sometimes do with life's little victories. The old man driving the car was disappointed. He looked Mathews in the eye and continued his search for another parking slot.

Two days later, Mathews was preparing for one of the biggest moments of his career. He was close to winning a big contract for his company. And all that was left now was the formal handshake meeting with the client's CEO. As Mathews walked into the client's office and saw the CEO, he felt a sudden sense of discomfort. Yes, it was the same man from whom he had snatched the parking slot on Sunday. And you can guess what happened thereafter. Alas! If only Mathews had grown up with the HTDO habit!

So whats HTDO?

It has probably happened to you before. As you walk towards the door of an office, or a hotel, the person walking in front holds the door open for you. Remember how good it made you feel - if only for that moment.

Isn't it surprising that although we all feel good when someone holds the door open for us, we seldom do the same for other? How come?

It's probably because we are all preoccupied with ourselves and obsessed with getting ahead. Here, then, is a life-changing lesson they don't teach you in any B school - 'Hold The Door Open'.

The world can be divided into two types of people. Those who push open a door, walk through and let it slam behind them. That's the 99% of the population. And there's the 1% who hold it open to allow the next person to walk through. Learn to do that, and you too could join the select 1% club. HTDO doesn't merely make other people feel good. It makes you feel good too. HTDO translates into a behaviour of helping and caring.

Winning in life is less about naked ambition and more about helping other people win.

Someone once said, "It's nice to be important. But it's more important to be nice"

EmPower -English Mastery and Power of Communication - a 2month long training program was given to our prestigious client Uber Kochi for their Customer Service Staff. The program was led by our Master Trainers Jessica Mundroina and Chandra Vadhana. All trainees underwent series of workshops on communication, emailing and English language. They were further assessed and certified on their skillsets. Certificate distribution was held along with the Onam celebration in the presence of Mr. Renjith, Marketing Head of UBER Kochi and Mr. Ghanashyam Kurup, Greenlight Team Head.

A 3 day Entrepreneurship awareness program for the students of ED club of MES college, Marampally has been organized by the college in association with T4Trainer.com.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. K. C. Jagadeep (MD, Offshorent Technologies), Ms. Chandra Vadhana R (CEO, 4tune factory, Entrepreneurship Trainer), The principal and other faculty members of the college. It was later followed by an interview session, Ms. Chandra vathana R being an interviewer of Mr. Jagadeep giving the opportunity for the students to know the path he walked to his successful entrepreneur life.

The monthly Knowledge Network Meet of Kochi chapter: KNET was held on 20th August 2017. There were two trainer talks.
