Finally got my turn to be friendly with Fewa , or, as the locals says, Fewa is the second largest lake of , and kind of never ending!! Once you are inside the boat, one can understand the vastness of the lake; and to top that up, are the stunning views of and ranges. Yes, you imagined it correct, the view is stunning. I booked a whole boat for myself (there are options to share too.. ) and luckily my boatman was a very friendly local, who kept me engrossed with stories from nearby.
There’s one more attraction, just at the middle of this lake, but we will come to that bit later. Meanwhile, why wait.. let the ride begin !🙂

Morning vibes at the . is a very small lakeside town, situated far away from the hustle bustle of chaotic Kathmandu, a perfect place to get lost, with thy self. Fewa lake is the main attraction of Pokhara, while the other being, it’s normally the starting point for the trekkers to begin their climb. Well, my adrenaline levels are not that high, so a peaceful boat ride is good enough for me! So, why wait.. let the ride begin 🙂

They say.. “Morning shows the day”. Well, if this was the view while I jogged pass the Pokhara Lake, imagine how it would be, while I take a boat ride next. And boy, what colours! If I was a writer, I could have finished a full novel, sitting by this lake side. Anyways, time for some reality check.. no, not an author, but I can definitely enjoy my morning enjoying this view for now 🙂
As they say.. PURE BLISS ❤️

- How tough can the Visa process be?? Duh!!

The first thing a traveller does, while choosing a destination is, googling around the destination for some homework, and this was the first of the many surprises that hit me. Surprisingly, one will get the least information on Bangladesh tourism on the internet, for god knows what reason. The one I can guess, is probably that Bangladesh may not come in the, forget top 5; even top 10 destinations, when one plans a south east asia trip. To top that, when an Indian plans to travel Bangladesh, he faces the questions like .. WHAT? Of all places?? Are you crazy? This actually triggered me for this trip (adding on to the fact that, by then I had already covered the top 5, if not top 10 destination countries of south east asia). But even keeping that aside, me being a b**g, and having ancestral connections to this countries, was actually my trigger - to travel to B’desh, against all the raised eyebrows! But what did I knew about the challenges awaiting for me, then.

For one thing, and I being a City hooper, along with that, exhausting my yearly quota of holidays for the above mentioned 4/5 odd countries that same year (yes! I have much interesting stories for those too, to be told later), I had no options than just to pick Dhaka as my destination, over a weekend trip; yes you read it correct. The first thing I needed was a visa. Now, I had epic level of an interesting weekend, to say the least, in Dhaka, but nothing could have been more challenging than bagging a visa. This coming from the guy, for whom B’desh was his 20th country - the visa application to collection procedure was a nightmare. You will really need to plan well, get all your paperworks correct and be ready waiting in a line of 1000 people, queueing from morning 5am for atleast 5 hours, to reach at the small window of the B’desh embassy, Park Street, and will be allowed a single chance and a time span of 2/3 minutes, to submit all your paperwork correctly, OR, repeat all the above, for yet another day. At the age of automation, i was very surprised to see the pride those guys had, on their age old manual system of visa document submission. So, an advance best of luck, for folks who plan to travel B’desh from India. No, am not scaring you, but a fact is a fact, no point sugarcoating. And once you are lucky, in submitting everything correctly the first time, the passport/visa would be handed back in 7 odd days; so please plan your trip accordingly, keeping some buffer time in hand. If you have reached so far, you may have been scared already by me, so to balance out, let me clarify, the documentation is very simple, and even if u f**k up, you will get a chance to pay some extra bucks, while you are maintaining your queue for those 5 hours, and get all corrections done. Yes, there are quite a few saviours around, awaiting nearby, on their scooter-converted-to-xerox-cum-photo-booths, to do all necessary rectifications, before your one-chance-or-miss-for-the-day document submission!

Ok, enough of pre-trip gyan; I managed to utilise my first chance itself, and got my visa well in time, for my journey ahead!

However, like everyone, I too believe that, soon we will start travelling again, visiting newer places, exploring new boundaries! Till then, how about some looking backs? Have created a page of mine (read it as.. with lot’s of over confidence) and have named it (loosely translating to aCrazyB**gWanderer). If possible show some love while I help the page grow. After all, and to visit.
