Bamboo, much harder than Oak (YES!), does not swell or shrink based on the water added to the pot. It ensures that water goes into maintaining the plant rather than feeding the wood. It can resist external forces even better than wood and concrete, translating to outstanding performance as a pot. Compared to other materials, bamboo’s strength is closer to steel, making it much stronger than softwoods.

At Lakshmi Farmstead, we have planted Red Sandalwood saplings as part of our Phase1 tree planting. This tree is easy to grow, very hassle-free actually. Pests also don’t seem to bother much with these guys.

Red Sandalwood has been used as an ancient Indian as well as traditional Chinese and European remedy. It also has potential application prospects in the fields of bio-energy, bio-medicine, cosmetics, and spices. The rare “wavy” grain variant is highly valued in Japan for its acoustic properties and is used to make the musical instrument “Shamisen”. It was reported that it is been used to reduce the radiation of Nuclear reactors.
