JN.1
The JN.1 is a sub-lineage of BA.2.86 or Pirola sub- variant of Omicron. It was first detected in Luxembourg in August this year. Subsequently, it has been reported by England, Iceland, France and US - all countries where genomic surveillance is active.
Based on current evidence, JN.1 appears to be more infective and possibly more immune evasive than Pirola but not any more virulent. This sub-variant may outcompete and displace the XBB lineage which is currently dominant across the world.
JN.1 has emerged at a time when antibody levels in previously immunised or infected persons would have faded. Winter too favours the spread of respiratory viruses, as people huddle together, cold air does not flow easily to disperse viral clouds, there is less exposure to ultra-violet light as the earth tilts away from the sun, blood vessels constrict reducing blood flow to the respiratory mucosa and native immunity levels drop.
For all respiratory viruses, Covid included, good quality face masks are likely to be protective. Persons with low or suppressed immunity, elderly persons and persons with severe co-morbid health disorders should protect themselves with masks in company and preferably avoid large crowds. Healthy diets (plenty of fruits, vegetables, water) will boost immunity.
It is best to adopt Covid-appropriate behaviours and mask up in crowded places.

HERPES ZOSTER OR SHINGLES
Herpes zoster or shingles is a recurrent, painful, vesicular eruption caused by reactivation of dormant varicella zoster virus in an individual who had chicken pox in the earlier years. The condition is infectious and spread to the children. The virus during the latent period resides in the dorsal root of spinal ganglia or in the cranial nerve ganglia. On reactivation, the virus is spreads from ganglia to sensory nerves and to peripheral nerves. The vesicles in the shingels are seen in one or more of the sensory dermatomes and along the peripheral nerves. The lesions are particularly painful as compared with the painless eruption in chickenpox.

CHICKENPOX OR VARICELLA
Varicella or chickenpox is an acute vesicular exanthema occurring in non- immune persons, especially children.
The condition begins as an infection of the nasopharynx. On entering the blood stream, viraemia is accompanied by onset of fever, Malaise and anorexia. Maculopapular skin rashe, usually on the upper trunk and face, develop in a day or two.
This is followed by formation of vesicles which rapture and heal with formation of scabs. A few cases may develop complications which include pneumonia, Hepatitis, encephalitis, carditis, orchitis, arthritis, and haemorrhages.

AGELESS...!!
Nobody grows old by their chronological age. You grow old when you become inactive, pessimistic, hateful, and selfish. Inculcate some natural age erasers. Get off the couch. Do some yog, pranayam, and exercise. Become a nutrition warrior. Be kind to your body. Give up junk food and cultivate a taste for healthy food. But do not be obsessive. Enjoy life. Indulge once in a while.
Replace hatred and disgust with love and affection. The more you make dirty faces at people, the uglier you look and older you get. Developing a loving attitude is the surest way of looking good. Always maintain an optimistic attitude in life.
Be willing to change. As you grow older, tend to get rigid. Try a new recipe, take a different route to work, do things differently. Enjoy a new hobby. Try your hand at music, art, or badminton. Face your fears and apprehensions.
Happy ageing..!!

AGE SPOTS /LIVER SPOTS /SOLAR LENTIGINES /SENILE LENTIGINES
Age spots are small, flat dark areas on the skin.Age spots are also called sunspots, liver spots and solar lentigines.
The coloring may be due to aging, exposure to the sun or other sources of ultraviolet light, or causes that are not known.
Liver spots are very common after age 40. They occur most often on areas that have had the greatest sun exposure, such as the:
• Backs of the hands
• Face
• Forearms
• Forehead
• Shoulders
Liver spots appear as a patch or area of skin color change that is:
• Flat
• Light brown to black
• Painless
• Size from millimeter to 1/2 inches
Dark spots that change over time may signify a more serious skin condition, and a healthcare provider should look at them. If you are worried about dark spots on your skin, talking with your healthcare provider to get the right diagnosis and treatment is best.
You may prevent future liver spots from developing by using sun protection,
• Sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays.
• Sun-protective clothing, such as hats and long-sleeved shirts.
• Food rich in Vitamin D.
• Healthy diet and lifestyle.
Consult for the treatment.

MONSOON HAIRFALL
Monsoon is not just about muddy roads, bad traffic and sticky skin but also unexplained and sudden hair fall.
Everyone might have experienced this.
The main cause is humidity 😱. Moisture in air which causes increased sebum production, the scalp gets greasy and flaky and hair becomes dry, rough and brittle.
And if you love to dance in rain... the rain water, which is acidic, polluted and hence harmful lead to hair damage, frizz and dandruff. 😔
The dampness also increases the risk of bacterial and fungal infections. We all have a love-hate relationship with monsoons as sure, we love it when the sky is wet and gloomy but when it comes to our hair, it's a different story altogether!!!
So what we need to do to enjoy rain without much damage to our hairs.
Here are the simple tips -
1. Wash your hair with mild shampoo, not keratin or hyaluronic based shampoo. Can use antidandruff.
2. Dont use hair dryer.
3. Dont tie hair if wet.
4. Give scalp massage.
5. Proper diet, hydration, dry fruits.
6. Take iron suppliment and bcomplex.
7. Avoide fried and junk.
8. Wash hair whenever get wet in rain and air dry them.
9. Dont tie hairs too tight.
10. Keep scalp clean.

OSTEOARTHRITIS
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that can affect the many tissues of the joint.Osteoarthritis can degrade cartilage, change bone shape and cause inflammation, resulting in pain, stiffness and loss of mobility.
In osteoarthritis, the cartilage that cushions the ends of bones wears down until the bones are (painfully) rubbing against each other.
Many experts believe that anyone who lives long enough will eventually develop some degree of osteoarthritis, depending on factors like how heavily a joint has been used and whether it’s ever been injured. Not surprisingly, the weight-bearing joints like the knees, hips, and spine are particularly vulnerable to osteoarthritis. The hands, wrists, and shoulders are also common spots.
People with inflammatory arthritis are still at risk of developing osteoarthritis.
Treatment and Mangement -
Practicing the healthy lifestyle habits can slow down OA.
Early diagnosis is very important in treatment.
Proper diet and exercise with medication allow patient to live painfree life.
Physical therapy.
Hot / cold fomentation.
Joint support.
Consult for homoeopathic treatment.
