It was so wonderful to receive this beautiful Maharashtra Day Marathi Pangat today!  Every region in India is a country in itself when it comes to culinary cultures, made up of diverse, cuisines based on topography and local unique ingredients,  religions and communities. And this is true of Maharashtra too, a region rich in culinary heritage, which has not been showcased to its full potential.  Something initiatives like Marathi Pangat are playing a crucial role to change. A passion project, by Nikhil Tipnis of @nikhilcaterers @themarathipangat along with @chefyogeshutekar who is the Chef Collaborator on it. The duo curate bespoke Maharashtrian menus for special occasions. Such as this 62nd Maharashtra Diwas feast they were kind enough to send over. (Though I think I've got a couple of names mixed up.) It is not easy to represent a region as diverse as Maharashtra in one menu but this meal highlighted some very interesting textures and flavours such as the Panchamrut, the Nagpuri Patodi Rassa and the Konkani Ansa Fansachi Bhaaji. What mind blowing flavours! I am told this is just the first offering, there is a series of menus in the works to showcase and celebrate authentic Maharashtrian recipes and ingredients passed down through generations. And I am looking forward to exploring other Maharashtrian microcuisines with them. In fact the next menu is slotted for 3rd May to celebrate  for Akshay Tritiya and will feature GSB konkani and traditional Brahmani dishes..Do follow @themarathipangat To know more!
